लगता नहीं है दिल मेरा उजड़े दयार मेंकिसकी बनी है आलमे-नापायदार में
बुलबुल को बागबाँ से न सय्याद से गिला
किस्मत मेँ कैद लिखी थी, फ़सले बहार में
इन हसरतों से कह दो कहीं और जा बसें
इतनी जगह कहाँ है दिले-दागदार में
इक शाखे-गुल पे बैठ के बुलबुल है शादमां
काँटे बिछा दिये हैं दिले-लालहजार में
उम्रे-दराज माँग के लाये थे चार दिन
दो आरजू में कट गये दो इंतजार में
दिन जिन्दगी के खत्म हुए शाम हो गई
फैला के पाँव सोएँगे कुंजे-मज़ार में
कितना है बदनसीब ज़फर दफ़्न के लिये
दो गज़ ज़मीन भी न मिली कूए-यार में ।

This peom reflects the greef of a tormented soul.The last mughal emperor bahadur shah zafar was imprisoned by the british army & banished from the country of his forefather to live in barma until his last breath.The last coplets of the peom lamends the fact that"Zafar" the peot was so extremely misfortuned that he didn't get the even the soil of his country to be burried there.
