US changing visa rules to attract the highly-skilled

Washington, Feb 4 (IANS) To make America more attractive to highly-skilled foreign students and workers, the United States has announced a series of reforms, including changes in the F-1 and H-1B visa rules, that may benefit professionals from India.

The interim measures are aimed at improving the competitiveness of US companies in the world market and stimulating US job creation before comprehensive immigration reforms for "fixing our broken immigration system," the Department of Homeland Security announced.

The proposed changes include providing work authorization for spouses of certain H-1B holders and allowing outstanding professors and researchers to present a broader scope of evidence of academic achievement.

Also proposed is expanding eligibility for 17-month extension of optional practical training (OPT) for F-1 international students to include students with a prior degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The changes would also allow for additional part-time study for spouses of F-1 students and expand the number of Designated School Officials (DSOs) at schools certified by DHS to enrol international students.

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will launch Feb 22 its Entrepreneurs in Residence initiative with an Information Summit in Silicon Valley, California to discuss how to maximize current immigration laws' potential to attract foreign entrepreneurial talent.

The Information Summit will focus on ensuring that immigration pathways for

foreign entrepreneurs are clear and consistent, and better reflect today's business realities, the announcement said.

As a part of comprehensive immigration reform, President Barack Obama supports legislative measures that would attract and retain immigrants who create jobs and boost competitiveness here in the US, DHS said.

These include creating a "Startup Visa," strengthening the H-1B programme, and "stapling" green cards to the diplomas of certain foreign-born graduates in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

"Together these actions would help attract new businesses and new investment to

the US and ensure that the US has the most skilled workforce in the world," DHS said.

Hussaini Brahmin Sect

Perhaps the most intriguing case of Hindu veneration of Imam Hussain is to be found among the small Hussaini Brahmin sect, located mostly in Punjab, also known as Dutts or Mohiyals. Unlike other Brahmin clans, the Hussaini Brahmins have had a long martial tradition, which they trace back to the event of Karbala. They believe that an ancestor named Rahab traveled all the way from Punjab to Arabia and there developed close relations with Imam Hussain. In the battle of Karbala, Rahab fought in the army of the Imam against Yazid. His sons, too, joined him, and most of them were killed. The Imam, seeing Rahab’s love for him, bestowed upon him the title of sultan or king, and told him to go back to India. It is because of this close bond between their ancestor Rahab and Imam Hussain that the Hussaini Brahmins got their name.

After Rahab and those of his sons who survived the battle of Karbala reached India, they settled down in the western Punjab and gradually a community grew around them. This sect, the Hussaini Brahmins, practised an intriguing blend of Islamic and Hindu practices, because of which they were commonly known as ‘half Hindu, half Muslim’. A popular saying about the Hussainis has it thus:

New Delhi, Dec. 13: Physicist Vivek Sharma who was born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and now leads an international group hunting for the Higgs boson sees the search as an attempt to seek out answers to questions posed in the Rig Veda.

Sharma, who went to a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pune and pursued master's in physics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, says he was drawn to experimental particle physics after learning Rig Veda hymns from his mother, a Sanskrit scholar. The ancient text has a hymn on creation that speculates on the origin of the universe and describes a period when "all that existed was void and formless".

"It was a shock, it left an impression in my mind. Thousands of years ago people were contemplating our origins," said Sharma, a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and head of a Higgs search team at CERN, the European research laboratory.

He was still a high school student but began thinking how modern technology might be used to probe creation. The Higgs boson, the subatomic particle that Sharma and his colleagues are looking for, was predicted in the 1960s to explain the origin of mass.

A discovery of the Higgs boson is important for physicists because it is the last missing, or unseen, piece of a bedrock theory of physics called the Standard Model that explains all the forces and particles in nature except gravity.

Sharma moved to the US in 1984, treating higher studies in the US as a route to plunge into experimental physics requiring expensive machines ' particle accelerators ' but spent five years at CERN in the early 1990s where he discovered two new subatomic particles, including a cousin of the proton, but five times heavier.

His enthusiasm for experimental physics emerges in his talks ' whether delivered to fellow-physicists or aspiring students. It also appears to temper any emotions that might spring each time particle detectors at CERN spot signals resembling traces of the Higgs boson.

"Experiments will ultimately tell us what is right and what is wrong," he said. In the coming months, Sharma and his colleagues will refine their analyses and combine the data from the two main particle detectors looking for the Higgs boson.

"Our curiosity about our origins doesn't change anybody's life, but there is a satisfaction from understanding such things," Sharma said in a telephone interview ahead of the CERN seminar where scientists presented their latest results from the Higgs search.

"But when we build machines like the Large Hadron Collider (the particle accelerator at CERN where proton-proton collisions are used to search for the Higgs boson), it requires us to invent new technologies that can change people's lives," he said.

The World Wide Web was created at CERN to help physicists move data around between different computers in a seamless fashion. "It's a great example of how something that is good for physicists turned out to be fantastic for the public," Sharma said.

New technologies and ideas that are born in experimental physics laboratories may have implications in information technology and medicine. "Our goals are esoteric, but what sometimes comes out benefits the public," he said.

इराक और भारत का ज़ाहिरी फासला तो हज़ारों मील,का है. अगर चे इस फासले को मौजूदा ज़माने की तेज़ रफ़्तार सवारियों ने बहोत कुछ आसान कर दिया है , लेकिन सफ़र की यह सहूलतें आज से १३२२ बरस पहले मौजूद ना थीं।
मुहर्रम ६१ हिजरी . में हजरत मोहम्मद साहेब के छोटे नवासे हजरत इमाम हुसैन ने भारत की सरज़मीन पर आने का इरादा फ़रमाया था , और उन्होंने अपने दुश्मन यज़ीद की टिड्डी दल फ़ौज के सिपह सालार उमर इब्ने साद से अपनी चंद शर्तों के नामंज़ूर होने के बाद यह कहा था के अगर मेरी किसी और शर्त पर राज़ी नहीं है तो मुझे छोड़ दे ताकि मैं भारत चला जाऊं।
मैं अक्सर यह ग़ौर करता रहता हूँ के तेरह सौ साल पहले जो सफ़र की दुश्वारियां हो सकती थीं , उनको पेशे नज़र रखते हुए हजरत इमाम हुसैन का भारत की सरज़मीन की जानिब आने का क़स्द (इरादा ) करना , और यह जानते हुए के ना तो उस वक़्त तक फ़ातेहे सिंध , मुहम्मद . बिन क़ासिम पैदा हुआ था , और ना हम हिन्दुओं के मंदिरों को मिस्मार करने वाला महमूद ग़ज़नवी ही आलमे वुजूद में आया था . न उस वक़्त भारत में कोई मस्जिद बनी थी और ना अज़ान की आवाज़ बुलंद हुई थी , बल्कि एक भी मुसलमान तिजारत या सन’अत ओ हिर्फ़त की बुनियाद पर भी यहाँ ना आ सका था , ना मौजूद था . उस वक़्त तो भारत में सिर्फ चंद ही कौमें आबाद थीं , जो बुनियादी तौर से हिन्दू मज़हब से ही मुताल्लिक हो सकती हैं . मगर इन् तमाम हालात का अंदाजा करने के बाद भी के भारत में कोई मुसलमान मौजूद नहीं है , हजरत इमाम हुसैन ने उमर ए साद से क्यों यह फरमाया के मुझे भारत चला जाने दे ।
अगरचे हज़रत इमाम हुसैन की शहादत से पहले किसी ना किसी तरह सरज़मीने ईरान तक इस्लाम पहुँच चुका था , और सिर्फ ईरान ही पर मुनहसिर नहीं है , बल्कि हबश को छोडकर जहाँ हजरत अली के छोटे भाई जाफ़र ए तय्यार कुरान और इस्लाम का पैग़ाम लेकर गए थे। दीगर मुल्क भी ईरान की तरह जंग ओ जदल के बाद उसवक्त की इस्लामी सल्तनत के मातहत आ चुके थे। जैसे के मिस्र वा शाम वगैरह , इसलिए हजरत इमाम हुसैन के लिए भारत के सफ़र की दुश्वारियां सामने रखते हुए यह ज़्यादा आसान था के वो ईरान चले जाते , या मिस्र ओ शाम जाने का इरादा करते , मगर उनहोंने ऎसी किसी तमन्ना का इज़हार नहीं किया , सिर्फ भारत का नाम ही उनकी प्यासी जुबां पर आया।
खुसूसियत से हबश जाने की तमन्ना करना हजरत इमाम हुसैन के लिए ज्यादा आसान था , क्यूंकि ना सिर्फ बादशाहे हबश और उसके दरबारी इस्लाम कुबूल कर चुके थे बल्कि हजरत इमाम हुसैन के हकीकी चाचा हजरत जाफ़र के इखलाक वा मोहब्बत से बादशाहे हबश ज्यादा मुतास्सिर भी हो चुका था . यहाँ तक के उसने खुद्द हजरत जाफ़र के ज़रिये से भी और उनके बाद मुख्तलिफ ज़राएय से रसूले इस्लाम और हजरत अली की खिदमत में बहुत कुछ तोहफे भी रवाना किये थे , बलके वाकेआत यह बताते हैं के ख़त ओ किताबत भी बादशाहे हबश से होती रहती थी ।
दूसरा सबब हबश जाने की तमन्ना का यह भी हो सकता था के उसवक्त जितनी दिक्क़तें हबश का सफ़र करने के सिलसिले में इमाम हुसैन को पेश आतीं , वो इससे बहोत कम होतीं जो हिन्दोस्तान के सफ़र के सिलसिले में ख्याल की जा सकती थीं . मगर हबश की सहूलतों को नज़र अंदाज़ करने के बाद हजरत इमाम हुसैन किसी भी गैर मुस्लिम मुल्क जाने का इरादा नहीं करते , बल्कि उस हिन्दोस्तान की जानिब उनका नूरानी दिल खींचता हुआ नज़र आता है , जहाँ उसवक्त एक भी मुसलमान ना था . आखिर क्यों ? येही वो सवाल है जो बार बार मेरे दिमाग के रौज़नों में अकीदत की रौशनी को तेज़ करता है , और अपनी जगह पर मैं इस फैसले पर अटल हो जाता हूँ के जिस तरह से हिन्दोस्तान वालों को हजरत इमाम हुसैन से मोहब्बत होने वाली थी उसी तरह इमाम हुसैन के दिल में हम लोगों की मोहब्बत मौजूद थी।

मोहब्बत वो फितरी जज्बा है जो दिल में किसी की सिफारिश के बग़ैर ख़ुद ब ख़ुद पैदा होता है , और कम अज कम मैं उस मज़हब का क़ायल नहीं हो सकता , या उस मोहब्बत पर ईमान नहीं ला सकता जिसका ताल्लुक जबरी हो . दुनिया में सैकड़ों ही मज़हब हैं , और हर मज़हब का सुधारक यह दावा करता है के उसी का मज़हब हक है , और यह फैसला क़यामत से पहले दुनिया की निगाहों के सामने आना मुमकिन नहीं है , के कौन सा मज़हब हक है . लेकिन चाहे चंद मज़हब हक हों , या एक मज़हब हक हो , हम को इससे ग़रज़ नहीं है , हम तो सिर्फ मोहब्बत ही को हक जानते हैं ,और शायद इसी लिए दुनिया के बड़े बड़े पैग़ंबरों और ऋषियों ने मोहब्बत ही की तालीम दी है ।
मोहब्बत का मेयार भी हर दिल में यकसां नहीं होता , मोहब्बत एक हैवान को दुसरे हैवान से भी होती है , और इंसानों में भी मोहब्बतों के अक्साम का कोई शुमार नहीं है , माँ को बेटे से और बेटे को माँ से मोहब्बत होती है , बहन को भाई से और भाई को बहन से मोहब्बत होती है , चाचा को भतीजे से और भतीजे को चाचा से , बाप को बेटे से और बेटे को बाप से मोहब्बत होती है . इन् तमाम मोहब्बतों का सिलसिला नस्बी रिश्तों से मुंसलिक होता है . लेकिन ऎसी भी मोहब्बतें दुनिया में मौजूद हैं , जो शौहर को ज़ौजा से और ज़ौजा को शौहर से होती है , या एक दोस्त को दूसरे दोस्त से होती है , इन् सब मोहब्बतों का इन्हेसार सबब या असबाब पर होता है . मगर वो मोहब्बतें इन् तमाम मोहब्बतों से बुलंद होती हैं , जो इंसानियत के बुलंद तबके में पाई जाती हैं , मसलन पैग़म्बर नूह को अपनी कश्ती से मोहब्बत , या हजरत इब्राहीम को अपने बेटे इस्माइल से मोहब्बत , या हजरत मोहम्मद (स) को अपनी उम्मत से मोहब्बत , यह तमाम मोहब्बतें उस मेयार से बहोत ऊंची होती हैं , जो आम सतेह के इंसानों में पाई जाती हैं . लिहाज़ा यह मानना पढ़ेगा के हजरत इमाम हुसैन के दिल में हिन्दोस्तान और उसके रहने वालों की जो मोहब्बत थी , वो उसी बुलंद मेयार से ता’अलुक रखती है जो पैग़म्बरे इस्लाम हजरत मोहम्मद साहेब को अपनी उम्मत से हो सकती हो , क्योंके अगर यह मोहब्बत आला मेयार की ना होती तो उसका वजूद वक्ती होता , या उस अहद से शुरू होती , जब से इस्लाम हिन्दोस्तान में आया . जब हम ग़ौर करते हैं तो यह मालुम होता है के हजरत इमाम हुसैन की मोहब्बत का लामुतनाही सिलसिला १३२२ बरस पहले से रोज़े आशूर शरू होता है , और यह सिलसिला उसवक्त तक बाक़ी रहने का यकीन है जब तक दुनिया और खुद हिन्दोस्तान का वजूद है ।
ये बात भी इंसान की फितरत तस्लीम कर चुकी है के रूहानी पेशवा जितने भी होते हैं उनमें से अक्सर को ना सिर्फ गुज़रे हुए वाकेअत का इल्म होता है , बल्कि आइंदा पेश आने वाले हालात भी उनकी निगाहों के सामने रहते हैं ।
हजरत इमाम हुसैन का भी ऐसी ही बुलंद हस्तियों में शुमार है , जिनको आइंदा ज़माने के वाकेआत वा हालात का मुकम्मल तौर से इल्म था , और इसी बिना पर वो जानते थे के उनके चाहने वाले हिन्दोस्तान में ज़रूर पैदा होंगे . जैसा के उनका ख्याल था , वो होकर रहा , और यहाँ इस्लाम के आने से पहले हिमालय की सर्बुलंद चोटियों पर “ हुसैन पोथी “ पढ़ी जाने लगी . ज़ाहिर है के जब मुस्लमान सरज़मीं इ भारत पर आए नहीं थे। '
उस वक़्त हुसैन की पोथी पढ़ने वाले सिवाए हिन्दुओं के और कौन हो सकता है ? हो सकता है के उसी वक़्त से सर ज़मीन ए हिंदोस्तान पर हुस्सैनी ब्रह्मण नज़र आने लगे हों , जिनका सिलसिला अब तक जारी है , बल्की यह तमाम ब्रह्मण मज्हबन हिन्दू मज़हब के मानने वाले होते हैं सदियों से , लेकिन मोहब्बत के उसूल पर वो हुसैन की तालीम को बहोत अहमियत देते हैं . यूं तो हुस्सैनी ब्रह्मण पूरे मुल्क में दिखाई देते हैं , मगर खुसूसियत से जम्मू और कश्मीर के इलाके में इनलोगों की कसीर आबादी है , जो हमावक़्त हुस्सैनी तालीम पर अमल पैर होना सबब ए फ़ख़्र जानते हैं ।
लिहाज़ा यह तस्लीम कर्म पढ़ेगा के हजरत इमाम हुसैन को हिन्दोस्तान और उसके रहने वालों से जो मोहब्बत थी , वो न सिर्फ हकीकत पर मबनी कही जा सकती है , बलके उनकी मोहब्बत के असरात उनकी शहादत के कुछ ही अरसे बाद से दिलों में नुशुओनुम पाने लगे . हम नहीं कह सकते के इमाम हुसैन की मोहब्बत को और उनके ग़म को हिन्दोस्तान में लेने वाला कौन था , जबके (यहाँ ) मुसलामानों का उसवक्त वजूद ही नहीं था , लिहाज़ा यह भी मानना पढ़ेगा के इमाम हुसैन के ग़म को या उनकी मोहब्बत को सरज़मीने हिन्दोस्तान पर पहुँचाने वाली वोही गैबी ताक़त थी , जिसने उनके ग़म में आसमानों को खून के आंसुओं से अश्कबार किया , और फ़ज़ाओं से या हुसैन की सदाओं को बुलंद कराया ।
और अब तो हुसैन की अज़मत , उनकी शख्सीयत और उनकी बेपनाह मोहब्बत का क्या कहना . हर शख्स अपने दिमाग से समझ रहा है , अपने दिल से जान रहा है , और अपनी आँखों से देख रहा है , के सिर्फ मुसलमान ही मुहर्रम में उनका ग़म नहीं मानते , बल्कि हिन्दू भी ग़म ए हुसैन में अजादार होकर इसका सुबूत देते हैं के अगर इमाम हुसैन ने आशूर के दिन हिन्दोस्तान आने का इरादा ज़ाहिर किया था , तो हम हिन्दुओं के दिल में भी उनकी मोहब्बत के जवाबी असरात नुमायाँ होकर रहते हैं ।
मुहर्रम का चाँद देखते ही , ना सिर्फ ग़रीबों के दिल और आँखें ग़म ऐ हुसैन से छलक उठती हैं , बल्कि हिन्दुओं की बड़ी बड़ी शख्सियतें भी बारगाहे हुस्सैनी में ख़ेराज ए अक़ीदत पेश किये बग़ैर नहीं रहतीं । अब तो खैर हिन्दोस्तान में खुद मुख्तार रियासतों का वजूद ही नहीं रहा , लेकिन बीस बरस क़ब्ल तक , ग्वालियर की अज़ादारी और महाराज ग्वालियर की इमाम हुसैन से अकीदत इम्तेयाज़ी हैसियत रखती थी ।
अगर चे मुहर्रम अब भी ग्वालियर में शान ओ शौकत के साथ मनाया जाता है , और सिर्फ ग्वालियर ही पर मुन्हसिर नहीं है इंदौर का मुहर्रम और वहां का ऊंचा और वजनी ताज़िया दुनिया के गोशे गोशे में शोहरत रखता है . हैदराबाद और जुनूबी हिन्दोस्तान में आशूर की रात को हुसैन के अकीदतमंद आग पर चल कर मोहब्बत का इज़हार करते है , वहां अब भी एक महाराज हैं जो सब्ज़ लिबास पहन कर , और अलम हाथ में लेकर जब तक दहेकते ही अंगारों पर दूल्हा दूल्हा कहते ही क़दम नहीं बढ़ाते , तब तक कोई मुस्लमान अज़ादार आग पर पैर नहीं रख सकता। यह क्या बात है हम नहीं जानते , और हुसैन के मुताल्लिक़ बहुत सी बातें ऐसी हैं जिसको चाहे अक्ल ना भी तस्लीम करती हो , मगर निगाहें बराबर दिखती रहती हैं । यानी अगर हजरत इमाम हुसैन के ग़म या उनकी अज़ादारी में गैबी ताक़त ना शामिल होती तो वो करामातें दुनिया ना देख सकती जो हर साल मुहर्रम में दिखती रहती है . अगर आज सिगरेट सुलगाने में दियासलाई का चटका ऊँगली में लग जाता है तो छाला पढ़े बग़ैर नहीं रहता , इस लिए के आग का काम जला देना ही होता है , मगर दहकते हुए अंगारों पर हुसैन का नाम लेने के बाद रास्ता चलना और पांव का ना जलना , या छाले ना पढ़ना , हुसैन की करामत नहीं तो और क्या है ?
इससे इनकार नहीं किया जा सकता के हमारे भारत में इराक से कम अज़ादारी नहीं होती , यह सब कुछ क्या है ? उसी हुसैन की मोहब्बत का करिश्मा और असरात हैं , जिसने अपनी शहादत के दिन हिन्दोस्तान आने का इरादा ज़ाहिर किया था ।
दुनिया के हर मज़हब में मुक़्तदिर शख्सियतें गुजरी हैं , और किसी मज़हब का दामन ऐसी बुलंद ओ बाला हस्तियों से ख़ाली नहीं है जिनकी अजमत बहार तौर मानना ही पढ़ती है। जैसे के ईसाईयों के हजरत ईसा , या यहूदियों के हजरत मूसा . मगर जितनी मजाहेब की जितनी भी काबिले अजमत हस्तियाँ होती हैं , उनको सिर्फ उसी मज़हब वाले अपना पेशवा मानते हैं , जिस मज़हब में वो होती हैं । अगर चे एहतराम हर मज़हब के ऋषियों , पेशवाओं , पैग़ंबरों का हर शख्स करता है । लेकिन इस हकीकत से चाहे हजरत इमाम हुसैन के दुश्मन चश्म पोशी कर लें , मगर हम लोग यह कहे बग़ैर नहीं रह सकते के हजरत इमाम हुसैन की बैनुल अक़वामी हैसियत और उनकी ज़ात से , बग़ैर इम्तियाज़े मज्हबो मिल्लत हर शख्स को इतनी इतनी गहरी मोहब्बत है , जितनी के किसी को किसी से नहीं है . ऐसा क्यूँ है , हम नहीं कह सकते , क्यूँ के बहुत सी बातें ऐसी भी होती हैं जो ज़बान तक नहीं आ सकती हैं , मगर दिल उनको ज़रूर महसूस कर लेता है ।
आप दुनिया की किसी भी पढ़ी लिखी शख्सियत से अगर इमाम हुसैन के मुताल्लिक़ दरयाफ्त करेंगे तो वो इस बात का इकरार किये बग़ैर नहीं रह सकेगा के यकीनन हुसैन अपने नज़रियात में तनहा हैं , और उनकी अजमत को तस्लीम करने वाली दुनिया की हर कौम , और दुनिया का हर मज़हब , और उसके तालीम याफ्ता अफराद हैं ।
एक बात मेरी समझ में और भी आती है , और वो यह के हिन्दोस्तान चूंके मुख्तलिफ मज़हब के मानने वालों का मरकज़ है , और इमाम हुसैन की शख्सियत में ऐसा जज्बा पाया जाता है , के हर कौम उनको खिराजे अकीदत पेश करना अपना फ़र्ज़ जानती है। और यह मैं पहले ही अर्ज़ कर चुक्का हूँ के हजरत इमाम हुसैन चूंकि आने वाले वाकेआत का इल्म रखते थे , इसलिए वो ज़रूर जानते होंगे के एक ज़माना वो आने वाला है के जब भारत की सरज़मीन पर दुनिया के तमाम मज़हब के मानने वाले आबाद होंगे . इसलिए हुसैन चाहते थे के दुनिया की हर कौम के अफराद यह समझ लें के उनकी मुसीबतें और परेशानियाँ ऐसी थीं जिनसे हर इंसान को फितरी लगाव पैदा हो सकता है , ख्वाह उसका ता’अल्लुक़ किसी मज़हब से क्यूँ ना हो ।
इसी तरह यज़ीद के ज़ुल्म ओ जौर और उसके बदनाम किरदार को भी उसके बेपनाह मज़ालिम की मौजूदगी में समझा जा सकता है . चुनांचे हकीकत तो वोही होती है जिसको दुनिया का हर वो शख्स तस्लीम करे जिसका ताअल्लुक़ ख्वाह किसी मज़हब से हो। लिहाज़ा हिन्दोस्तान में चूंके हर कौम ओ मज़हब में इन्साफ पसंद हजरात की कमी नहीं है , इसलिए हो सकता है के हजरत इमाम हुसैन ने इसी मकसद को पेश ऐ नज़र रखते हुए यह इरशाद फ़रमाया हो के वो हिन्दोस्तान जाने का इरादा रखते हैं। अगर चे उनकी तमन्ना पूरी ना हो सकी , लेकिन मशीयत का यह मकसद ज़रूर पूरा हो गया के हिन्दोस्तान की सरज़मीन पर रहने वाले बगैरे इम्तियाज़े मज़हब , इमाम हुसैन को मोहब्बत ओ अकीदत के मोती निछावर करते रहते हैं और करते रहेंगे ।

हमें गर्व है कि पंजाब के मोहयाल ब्राहमण रहाब सिद्ध दत्त मदीना से इमाम हुसैन के साथ कर्बला गए. कर्बला के युद्ध में उन्होंने इमाम हुसैन का साथ दिया. उनकी शहादत के बाद उनका सिर लेकर सुरक्षित रखा. शत्रुओं के घेर लेने और इमाम हुसैन का सिर मांगने पर उन्होंने शत्रुओं को धोखा देने के लिए एक-एक कर अपने सात पुत्रों का सिर काटकर कहा कि यह इमाम हुसैन साहब का सिर है. एक साल के बाद उन्होंने उस सिर को वहां दफनाया जहाँ उनका शरीर दफनाया गया था. शिया मुसलमानों ने रहाब दत्त और उनके वशजों को ' हुसैनी ब्राहमण ' की उपाधि प्रदान की. बाद में सुन्नी-शिया झगड़ों के कारण इराक में बसने वाले मोहयाल ब्राह्मण स्यालकोट के अपने मूल निवास -स्थान पर लौट आए. दत्त मोहयाल वीर योद्धा थे. कहा जाता है कि महाभारत काल में द्रोणाचार्य के वध के पश्चात उनके पुत्र अश्वत्थामा अरब में जाकर बस गए थे. दत्त मोहयाल उनके वंशज है. प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता सुनील दत्त भी मोहयाल ब्राहमण थे. दत्त ब्राहमणों के लिए कहा जाता था-' दत्त सुल्तान आधा हिन्दू आधा मुसलमान.' गूगल में मोहयाल सर्च करने पर मोहयालों के विषय में सम्पूर्ण जानकारियाँ ली जा सकती हैं. मोह्याल ब्राह्मणों की सात जातियां हैं--दत्त (दत्ता ), लौ (लव ), बाली, मोहन, वैद (वैद्य ),भिमवाल , छिब्बर.

एक सेठ जी थे | काफी बूढ़े हो गए थे | दाना दलने की एक चक्की थी उनकीदूकान पर बैठे थे | बूढ़े होने पर भीदाना दल रहे थे | |

दलते जाते, कहते जाते- “इस जीवन से तो मौत अच्छी है |”

इसी समय एक साधु दूकान के पास से होकर निकले| उन्होंने सेठ जी के ये शब्द सुने, सोचा कितना दुखी है यह व्यक्ति ! इसकी सहायता करनी चाहिये |’ उसके पास जाकर बोले – सेठ बहुत दुखी लगता है तू ! मेरे पास एक विद्या है ! यदि तू चाहे तो तुझे स्वर्ग ले जा सकता हूँ| चलता है तो चल! यहाँ के दुखों से छुटकारा मिल जायगा |

सेठ ने साधु की और देखा; बोला –“बहुत दयावान हो तुम, परन्तु मैं जा कैसे सकता हूँ? इतना बुढा हो गया , अभी तक कोई संतान नहीं हुई | संतान हो जाय तो चलूँगा अवश्य|”

साधु ने कहा – “बहुत अच्छा |” और चला गया |

कुछ वर्षों बाद सेठ के दो बेटे पैदा हो गये| साधु ने वापस आकर कहा- “ चलो सेठ ! अब तो तुम्हारी सन्तान हो गई|”

सेठ ने कहा – “हाँ हो तो गई, परन्तु अभी तक वह किसी योग्य तो नहीं | लड़के तनिक बड़े हो जाएँ, तब तुम आना | मैं अवश्य चलूँगा |

लड़के बड़े हो गये | साधु फिर आया तो सेठ नहीं था | पूछा उसने की सेठ कहाँ हैं ? तो पता लगा की मर गये हैं | साधु ने योग बल से देखा कि मर कर वह गया कहाँ ? तो उसने पता लगाया कि दूकान के बाहर जो बैल बंधा है, वही पिछले जन्म का सेठ है |

उसके पास जाकर साधु ने कहा - अब चलेगा स्वर्ग को ?”

सेठ (बैल) ने सर हिला कर कहा- “कैसे जाऊँ| बच्चे अभी नासमझ हैं | मैं चला गया तो कोई दूसरा बैल ले आयेंगे | जितनी अच्छी प्रकार से मैं बोझ उठता हूँ, उतनी अच्छी प्रकार से दूसरा बैल बोझ नहीं

उठाएगा| तो मेरे बच्चों को हानि हो जायेगी | ना भाई अभी तो मैं नहीं जा सकता, कुछ देर और ठहर जा |”

कुत्ते के शरीर में बैठे सेठ ने कहा- अरे कैसे ले चलेगा ! देखता नहीं कि मेरी बहु ने कितने आभूषण पहन रखे हैं? मेरे लड़के घर में नहीं हैं, यदि कोई चोर आ गया तो बहु को बचायेगा कौन? नहीं बाबा! तुम जाओ, अभी मैं नहीं जा सकता |”

साधू चला गया | एक वर्ष बाद उसने वापस आकर देखा कि कुत्ता भी मर गया है | उस साधु ने अपने योग बल द्वारा पुनः उस सेठ को खोजा | तो ज्ञात हुआ कि वह अपने घर के पास बहने वाली गन्दी नाली में कीड़ा बन के बैठा है | साधु ने उसके पास जाकर कहा- “देखो सेठ! क्या इससे बड़ी दुर्गति भी कभी होगी? कहाँ से कहाँ पहुँच गये तुम ! अब भी मेरी बात मानो | आओ तुम्हें स्वर्ग ले चलूँ|”

कीड़े के शरीर में बैठे सेठ ने चिल्ला कर कहा - “चला जा यहाँ से ! क्या मैं ही रह गया हूँ स्वर्ग जाने के लिए ? उनको ले जा मुझको यहीं पड़ा रहने दे | यहाँ पोतों पोतीओं को आते जाते देख कर प्रसन्न होता हूँ | स्वर्ग में क्या मैं तेरा मुख देखा करूँगा ?”

यह है मोह के चक्र में फंसे रहने का परिणाम | जो आगे चल कर हमारा प्रारब्ध बन जाता है| प्रारब्ध हमारे पूर्व जन्मों के कर्मो को कहा जाता है | यह मोह का चक्र आत्मा को नीचे ही नीचे ढकेलता चला जाता है | नहीं , इस प्रकार के कर्म मत करो ! कर्म करो अवश्य, परन्तु मोह और ममता से परे हट कर | वर्तमान के हमारे सुख और दुःख का हमारे पूर्व जन्म के कर्मो अर्थात प्रारब्ध से सम्बन्ध है और प्रारब्ध जन्म जन्मातर तक पीछा करते रहते है | इस लिए तो किसी ने कहा है “जूं जल भीतर कँवल रहे, जल में डूबे ताहीं| ग्यानी जगत में रहत भी, लिपत्मान हो नाहिं||”

RAM BHAJ DUTT CHAUDHARI (OF LAHORE). Born about 1867. Son of Radha Kishen, M OHYAL Brahmin of the Gurdaspur District. Educated at the Forman Christian College, Lahore ; B. A. of Punjab Univer- sity ; Pleader of the Chief Court, Lahore. Ram Bhaj Dutt is a leader of the local Arya Samaj for which he has often worked as Secretary. In October 1905 married Sarala Devi (q.v.) who was already prominent in Nationalist circles in Calcutta. Thereafter Ram Bhaj Dutt became a more iealous politician. Ram Bhaj Dutt was proprietor of the Hindustan newspaper, of which Amba Parsad (q.v.) was for a time sub-editor. The Press and the paper were purchased by him from Dina Nath and Ishri Parshad In July 1907, when Dina Nath was convicted of sedition. In July 1908 it was privately reported that bpth Ajit Singh and Amba Prasad were receiv- ing pecuniary assistance from Ram Bhaj Dutt. In August 1908 Ram Bhaj Dutt, then Secretary of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha (the controlling body of the Arya Samaj for the Punjab) left for England. He did not do much there that was noticeable. He returned to Lahore in November 1908, and on 1st March 1909 he presented himself before Mr. Fenton, Chief Secretary to Government, saying that he con- templated applying for the vacant Governorship pf Jammu, and inquiring whether, if the Maharajah referred to the Punjab Government the question of his loyalty, satisfactory assurances would be given pn the point, as he had a misgiving that some of his Beeches had been subject to misconception. Since then he and his wife have been taking a loyalist line and mixing in European society. Ram Bhaj Dutt of Lahore should not be confused with Pandit Bhoj Dutt Sharma of the Masafir of Agra. SARALA DEVI (wife of Ram Bhaj Dutt). Born about ,1882. Daughter of Mr. J. Ghosal of Calcutta, an old leader of the National Congress party. Has a brother Mr. J. Ghosal in the I. C. S. (Collector of Ratnagiri, Bombay 1910) who is married to the Princess Sukriti, daughter of the Maharajah of Cooch Behar. Sarala Devi's mother was Secretary of the Ladies' Theosophical Society of Calcutta, and Babu Rabindranath Tagore, a well-known Bengali poet, is her uncle. Sarala Devi was not married at the customary early age, as her parents desired that she should devote her life to the service of the country. She was one of the originators of the Swadeshi movement in Calcutta long before the partition, and tried to rouse the people by reviving old festivals, starting music clubs for the cultivation of national songs, and setting up a kind of ' Hero- worship' by means of plays describing the doings of the Hindu heroes of the past. She was one of the first to start lathi-play and sword exercise in Bengal, and from 1902 to 1904 she had an athletic club where these exercises were taught at her father's house at Baliygunge. The teacher was a certain ' Pro- fessor' Murtaza. There can be no doubt that she was a thorough extremist, and that the object of all these movements was to rouse the national spirit and the national strength in Bengal, with a view eventually to driving the English out. The later agitation and disturbances in Bengal were simply the natural development of her work. It has long been recognised in Bengal that no rising in India has any chance of success without the 99 co-operation of ihe Punjab, which was the great stumbling-block to the mutineers in 1857. It is possible that Sarala Devi's marriage with Ram Bhaj Dutt of Lahore in October 1905 was arranged partly with a view to provide a link in the agitation between the two Provinces, and for a year or two afterwards there were indications that it was being used fer this end. Lately, however, as has been noticed above, Ram Bhaj Dutt has begun to come round to the side of Government and Sarala Devi is apparently following the same course as her husband.

No one has ever challenged it except Prof. P. N. Oak, who believes the whole world has been duped. In his book Taj Mahal: The True Story, Oak says the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz's tomb but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva (then known as Tejo Mahalaya ). In the course of his research Oak discovered that the Shiva temple palace was usurped by Shah Jahan from then Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh.

In his own court chronicle, Badshahnama, Shah Jahan admits that an exceptionally beautiful grand mansion in Agra was taken from Jai SIngh for Mumtaz's burial . The ex-Maharaja of Jaipur still retains in his secret collection two orders from Shah Jahan for surrendering the Taj building.

Using captured temples and mansions, as a burial place for dead courtiers and royalty was a common practice among Muslim rulers. For example, Humayun,Akbar, Etmud-ud-Daula and Safdarjung are all buried in such mansions.

Oak's inquiries began with the name of Taj Mahal. He says the term " Mahal " has never been used for a building in any Muslim countries from Afghanisthan to Algeria . "The unusual explanation that the term Taj Mahal derives from Mumtaz Mahal was illogical in atleast two respects. Firstly, her name was never Mumtaz Mahal but Mumtaz-ul-Zamani ," he writes. Secondly, one cannot omit the first three letters 'Mum' from a woman's name to derive the remainder as the name for the building."

Taj Mahal, he claims, is a corrupt version of Tejo Mahalaya, or Lord Shiva's Palace. Oak also says the love story of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan is a fairy tale created by court sycophants, blundering historians and sloppy archaeologists. Not a single royal chronicle of Shah Jahan's time corroborates the love story.

Furthermore, Oak cites several documents suggesting the Taj Mahal predates Shah Jahan's era, and was a temple dedicated to Shiva, worshipped by Rajputs of Agra city. For example, Prof. Marvin Miller of New York took a few samples from the riverside doorway of the Taj. Carbon dating tests revealed that the door was 300 years older than Shah Jahan. European traveler Johan Albert Mandelslo,who visited Agra in 1638 (only seven years after Mumtaz's death), describes the life of the cit y in his memoirs. But he makes no reference to the Taj Mahal being built. The writings of Peter Mundy, an English visitor to Agra within a year of Mumtaz's death, also suggest the Taj was a noteworthy building well before Shah Jahan's time.

Prof. Oak points out a number of design and architectural inconsistencies that support the belief of the Taj Mahal being a typical Hindu temple rather than a mausoleum. Many rooms in the Taj ! Mahal have remained sealed since Shah Jahan's time and are still inaccessible to the public . Oak asserts they contain a headless statue of Lord Shiva and other objects commonly used for worship rituals in Hindu temples.

भावार्थ:-पहले पृथ्वी के देवता ब्राह्मणों के चरणों की वन्दना करता हूँ, जो अज्ञान से उत्पन्न सब संदेहों को हरने वाले हैं। फिर सब गुणों की खान संत समाज को प्रेम सहित सुंदर वाणी से प्रणाम करता हूँ॥2॥

* साधु चरित सुभ चरित कपासू। निरस बिसद गुनमय फल जासू॥

जो सहि दुख परछिद्र दुरावा। बंदनीय जेहिं जग जस पावा॥3॥

भावार्थ:-संतों का चरित्र कपास के चरित्र (जीवन) के समान शुभ है, जिसका फल नीरस, विशद और गुणमय होता है। (कपास की डोडी नीरस होती है, संत चरित्र में भी विषयासक्ति नहीं है, इससे वह भी नीरस है, कपास उज्ज्वल होता है, संत का हृदय भी अज्ञान और पाप रूपी अन्धकार से रहित होता है, इसलिए वह विशद है और कपास में गुण (तंतु) होते हैं, इसी प्रकार संत का चरित्र भी सद्गुणों का भंडार होता है, इसलिए वह गुणमय है।) (जैसे कपास का धागा सुई के किए हुए छेद को अपना तन देकर ढँक देता है, अथवा कपास जैसे लोढ़े जाने, काते जाने और बुने जाने का कष्ट सहकर भी वस्त्र के रूप में परिणत होकर दूसरों के गोपनीय स्थानों को ढँकता है, उसी प्रकार) संत स्वयं दुःख सहकर दूसरों के छिद्रों (दोषों) को ढँकता है, जिसके कारण उसने जगत में वंदनीय यश प्राप्त किया है॥3॥

* मुद मंगलमय संत समाजू। जो जग जंगम तीरथराजू॥

राम भक्ति जहँ सुरसरि धारा। सरसइ ब्रह्म बिचार प्रचारा॥4॥

भावार्थ:-संतों का समाज आनंद और कल्याणमय है, जो जगत में चलता-फिरता तीर्थराज (प्रयाग) है। जहाँ (उस संत समाज रूपी प्रयागराज में) राम भक्ति रूपी गंगाजी की धारा है और ब्रह्मविचार का प्रचार सरस्वतीजी हैं॥4॥

* बिधि निषेधमय कलिमल हरनी। करम कथा रबिनंदनि बरनी॥

हरि हर कथा बिराजति बेनी। सुनत सकल मुद मंगल देनी॥5॥

भावार्थ:-विधि और निषेध (यह करो और यह न करो) रूपी कर्मों की कथा कलियुग के पापों को हरने वाली सूर्यतनया यमुनाजी हैं और भगवान विष्णु और शंकरजी की कथाएँ त्रिवेणी रूप से सुशोभित हैं, जो सुनते ही सब आनंद और कल्याणों को देने वाली हैं॥5॥

* बटु बिस्वास अचल निज धरमा। तीरथराज समाज सुकरमा॥

सबहि सुलभ सब दिन सब देसा। सेवत सादर समन कलेसा॥6॥

भावार्थ:-(उस संत समाज रूपी प्रयाग में) अपने धर्म में जो अटल विश्वास है, वह अक्षयवट है और शुभ कर्म ही उस तीर्थराज का समाज (परिकर) है। वह (संत समाज रूपी प्रयागराज) सब देशों में, सब समय सभी को सहज ही में प्राप्त हो सकता है और आदरपूर्वक सेवन करने से क्लेशों को नष्ट करने वाला है॥6॥

* अकथ अलौकिक तीरथराऊ। देह सद्य फल प्रगट प्रभाऊ॥7॥

भावार्थ:-वह तीर्थराज अलौकिक और अकथनीय है एवं तत्काल फल देने वाला है, उसका प्रभाव प्रत्यक्ष है॥7॥

दोहा :

* सुनि समुझहिं जन मुदित मन मज्जहिं अति अनुराग।

लहहिं चारि फल अछत तनु साधु समाज प्रयाग॥2॥

भावार्थ:-जो मनुष्य इस संत समाज रूपी तीर्थराज का प्रभाव प्रसन्न मन से सुनते और समझते हैं और फिर अत्यन्त प्रेमपूर्वक इसमें गोते लगाते हैं, वे इस शरीर के रहते ही धर्म, अर्थ, काम, मोक्ष- चारों फल पा जाते हैं॥2॥

चौपाई :

* मज्जन फल पेखिअ ततकाला। काक होहिं पिक बकउ मराला॥

सुनि आचरज करै जनि कोई। सतसंगति महिमा नहिं गोई॥1॥

भावार्थ:-इस तीर्थराज में स्नान का फल तत्काल ऐसा देखने में आता है कि कौए कोयल बन जाते हैं और बगुले हंस। यह सुनकर कोई आश्चर्य न करे, क्योंकि सत्संग की महिमा छिपी नहीं है॥1॥

* बालमीक नारद घटजोनी। निज निज मुखनि कही निज होनी॥

जलचर थलचर नभचर नाना। जे जड़ चेतन जीव जहाना॥2॥

भावार्थ:-वाल्मीकिजी, नारदजी और अगस्त्यजी ने अपने-अपने मुखों से अपनी होनी (जीवन का वृत्तांत) कही है। जल में रहने वाले, जमीन पर चलने वाले और आकाश में विचरने वाले नाना प्रकार के जड़-चेतन जितने जीव इस जगत में हैं॥2॥

* मति कीरति गति भूति भलाई। जब जेहिं जतन जहाँ जेहिं पाई॥

सो जानब सतसंग प्रभाऊ। लोकहुँ बेद न आन उपाऊ॥3॥

भावार्थ:-उनमें से जिसने जिस समय जहाँ कहीं भी जिस किसी यत्न से बुद्धि, कीर्ति, सद्गति, विभूति (ऐश्वर्य) और भलाई पाई है, सो सब सत्संग का ही प्रभाव समझना चाहिए। वेदों में और लोक में इनकी प्राप्ति का दूसरा कोई उपाय नहीं है॥3॥

* बिनु सतसंग बिबेक न होई। राम कृपा बिनु सुलभ न सोई॥

सतसंगत मुद मंगल मूला। सोई फल सिधि सब साधन फूला॥4॥

भावार्थ:-सत्संग के बिना विवेक नहीं होता और श्री रामजी की कृपा के बिना वह सत्संग सहज में मिलता नहीं। सत्संगति आनंद और कल्याण की जड़ है। सत्संग की सिद्धि (प्राप्ति) ही फल है और सब साधन तो फूल है॥4॥

* सठ सुधरहिं सतसंगति पाई। पारस परस कुधात सुहाई॥

बिधि बस सुजन कुसंगत परहीं। फनि मनि सम निज गुन अनुसरहीं॥5॥

भावार्थ:-दुष्ट भी सत्संगति पाकर सुधर जाते हैं, जैसे पारस के स्पर्श से लोहा सुहावना हो जाता है (सुंदर सोना बन जाता है), किन्तु दैवयोग से यदि कभी सज्जन कुसंगति में पड़ जाते हैं, तो वे वहाँ भी साँप की मणि के समान अपने गुणों का ही अनुसरण करते हैं। (अर्थात्‌ जिस प्रकार साँप का संसर्ग पाकर भी मणि उसके विष को ग्रहण नहीं करती तथा अपने सहज गुण प्रकाश को नहीं छोड़ती, उसी प्रकार साधु पुरुष दुष्टों के संग में रहकर भी दूसरों को प्रकाश ही देते हैं, दुष्टों का उन पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता।)॥5॥

* बिधि हरि हर कबि कोबिद बानी। कहत साधु महिमा सकुचानी॥

सो मो सन कहि जात न कैसें। साक बनिक मनि गुन गन जैसें॥6॥

भावार्थ:-ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, शिव, कवि और पण्डितों की वाणी भी संत महिमा का वर्णन करने में सकुचाती है, वह मुझसे किस प्रकार नहीं कही जाती, जैसे साग-तरकारी बेचने वाले से मणियों के गुण समूह नहीं कहे जा सकते॥6॥

दोहा :

* बंदउँ संत समान चित हित अनहित नहिं कोइ।

अंजलि गत सुभ सुमन जिमि सम सुगंध कर दोइ॥3 (क)॥

भावार्थ:-मैं संतों को प्रणाम करता हूँ, जिनके चित्त में समता है, जिनका न कोई मित्र है और न शत्रु! जैसे अंजलि में रखे हुए सुंदर फूल (जिस हाथ ने फूलों को तोड़ा और जिसने उनको रखा उन) दोनों ही हाथों को समान रूप से सुगंधित करते हैं (वैसे ही संत शत्रु और मित्र दोनों का ही समान रूप से कल्याण करते हैं।)॥3 (क)॥

* संत सरल चित जगत हित जानि सुभाउ सनेहु।

बालबिनय सुनि करि कृपा राम चरन रति देहु॥ 3 (ख)

भावार्थ:-संत सरल हृदय और जगत के हितकारी होते हैं, उनके ऐसे स्वभाव और स्नेह को जानकर मैं विनय करता हूँ, मेरी इस बाल-विनय को सुनकर कृपा करके श्री रामजी के चरणों में मुझे प्रीति दें॥ 3 (ख)॥

11.11.11 अद्भुत सुखमय संयोग

हजारों वर्ष के बाद 11 इक्कों का अद्भुत संयोग बन रहा है। 11 नवंबर को एक समय ऐसा भी आएगा, जब 12 बार एक पंक्ति में 1 का अंक नजर आएगा। ज्योतिष में एक का विशेष महत्व है, क्योंकि एक अंक के स्वामी सूर्यदेव है जबकि इसके मूलांक का स्वामी चंद्रदेव है।

11 नवंबर 2011, दिन शुक्रवार, कृष्ण पक्ष की प्रथमा तिथि, भरणी एवं कृतिका नक्षत्र के दिन अंकों की दुनिया में शताब्दी का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण संयोग निर्मित हो रहा है। जब 11 तारीख, 11वां महीना के अलवा 11वां वर्ष भी होगा। इस दिन घड़ी की सुई जब 11 बजकर 11 मिनट और 11 सेकंड पर होगी। तब तारीख व समय के अंकों से बारह इक्कों का निर्माण होगा।
धर्म, आध्यात्म एवं ज्योतिष जगत में 11 नंबर का विशेष महत्व है। इस अंक में एक अंक का दो बार प्रयोग हुआ है। एक अंक का स्वामी सूर्यदेव है और जिसे ग्रहों का राजा माना गया है। अंक 11 का मूलांक दो है और अंक दो का स्वामी चंद्रदेव है। इस प्रकार अंक 11 को सूर्य और चंद्रदेव दोनों का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त है।
अंक 11 के आधार पर तिथियों में एकादशी तिथि का विशेष महत्व है और संपूर्ण तिथियों में एकादशी तिथि को विशेष रूप से महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। इस दिन भगवान विष्णु की पूजा की जाती है।
यदि 11 नवंबर 2011 को जोड़कर मूलांक निकाला जाए तो 6 आता है। इस अंक के स्वामी शुक्रदेव है और इस दिन शुक्रवार भी है। शुक्रदेव को सांसारिक सुखों, वैभव और ऐश्वर्य का कारक माना गया गया है। इसी तरह यदि 11 नवंबर की तारीख और समय का मूलांक जोड़ा जाए तो मूलांक 3 आता है, इस अंक के स्वामी देवगुरु बृहस्पति है। बृहस्पति को धार्मिक एवं आध्यात्मिक उन्नति का कारक माना जाता है। इस तारीख को सूर्यदेव एवं चंद्रदेव के साथ-साथ बृहस्पति और शुक्र की भी विशेष कृपा प्राप्त होती है।
इस शताब्दी का यह एकमात्र दिन होगा जब 12 अंकों का संयोग निर्मित होगा। इससे पूर्व भी अंकों का एक क्रम 9 अक्टूबर 2011 को भी निर्मित हुआ था जब 9, 10 और 11 के अंक एक क्रम में आए थे, परंतु अंकों की समानता का यह रोमांचकारी संयोग हजारों वर्ष में एक बार ही निर्मित हो रहा है। लिहाजा एक अंक का यह समुच्चय इस तारीख एवं तिथि के लिए कई हजार गुना खुशियां लेकर आने वाला है।

भारतीय भोजन थाली में सलाद के रूप में चुकंदर का उपयोग काफी प्रचलित है। गहरे लाल बैंगनी रंग का यह कंद प्रायः शरीर में खून बढ़ाने के गुण के कारण खाया जाता है। लौह तत्व के अलावा चुकंदर में विटामिंस भी भरपूर पाए जाते हैं। इसके नियमित सेवन से विटामिन ए, बी, बी 1, बी 2, बी 6 व विटामिन सी की पूर्ति सहज ही हो जाती है।

शायद कम लोग ही जानते हैं कि चुकंदर में लौह तत्व की मात्रा अधिक नहीं होती है, किंतु इससे प्राप्त होने वाला लौह तत्व उच्च गुणवत्ता का होता है, जो रक्त निर्माण के लिए विशेष महत्वपूर्ण है। यही कारण है कि चुकंदर का सेवन शरीर से अनेक हानिकारक पदार्थों को बाहर निकालने में बेहद लाभदायी है।

चुकंदर के संबंध में एक अन्य महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य यह भी है कि इसके कंद के अलावा चुकंदर की हरी पत्तियों का सेवन भी बेहद लाभदायी है। इन पत्तियों में कंद की तुलना में तीन गुना लौह तत्व अधिक होता है। पत्तियों में विटामिन ए भी भरपूर मात्रा में पाया जाता है।

कंद व इसकी पत्तियां रक्त निर्माण के लिए व हानिकारक तत्वों को शरीर से बाहर निकालने अर्थात "क्लींजर" के रूप में कार्य करते हैं। चुकंदर में पोटेशियम, सोडियम, कैल्शियम, मैग्नीज व रेशे की पर्याप्त मात्रा होती है। पाचन योग्य शर्करा की उपस्थिति के कारण चुकंदर का सेवन ऊर्जा भी प्रदान करता है।

ऐसा समझा जाता है कि चुकंदर का गहरा लाल रंग इसमें लौह तत्व की प्रचुरता के कारण है, बल्कि सच यह है कि चुकंदर का गहरा लाल रंग इसमें पाए जाने वाले एक रंगकण (बीटा सायनिन) के कारण होता है। एंटी ऑक्सीडेंट गुणों के कारण ये रंगकण स्वास्थ्य के लिए अच्छे माने जाते हैं।

चुकंदर में पाए जाने वाले फोलिक एसिड, पोटेशियम व मुलायम रेशा भी इसके पोषणिक गुणों को बढ़ाते हैं। चुकंदर का नियमित सेवन संपूर्ण शरीर को निरोग रखने में सहायक है।

हालांकि हमारे दैनिक आहार में चुकंदर को अभी भी उचित स्थान प्राप्त नहीं है, फिर भी इसे नियमित खाने से ना सिर्फ कई रोगों में लाभ होता है बल्कि यह त्वचा की खूबसूरती भी प्रदान करता है। इससे हिमोग्लोबिन बढ़ता है फलस्वरूप चेहरे की लालिमा बढ़ती है।

हिन्दुओं का मुख्य सिद्धान्त
हिंदू मंदिर, श्री लंकाहिन्दू धर्म में कोई एक अकेले सिद्धान्तों का समूह नहीं है जिसे सभी हिन्दुओं को मानना ज़रूरी है। ये तो धर्म से ज़्यादा एक जीवन का मार्ग है। हिन्दुओं का कोई केन्द्रीय चर्च या धर्मसंगठन नहीं है, और न ही कोई "पोप"। इसके अन्तर्गत कई मत और सम्प्रदाय आते हैं, और सभी को बराबर श्रद्धा दी जाती है। धर्मग्रन्थ भी कई हैं। फ़िर भी, वो मुख्य सिद्धान्त, जो ज़्यादातर हिन्दू मानते हैं, हैं इन सब में विश्वास : धर्म (वैश्विक क़ानून), कर्म (और उसके फल), पुनर्जन्म का सांसारिक चक्र, मोक्ष (सांसारिक बन्धनों से मुक्ति--जिसके कई रास्ते हो सकते हैं), और बेशक, ईश्वर। हिन्दू धर्म स्वर्ग और नरक को अस्थायी मानता है। हिन्दू धर्म के अनुसार संसार के सभी प्राणियों में आत्मा होती है। मनुष्य ही ऐसा प्राणी है जो इस लोक में पाप और पुण्य, दोनो कर्म भोग सकता है, और मोक्ष प्राप्त कर सकता है। हिन्दू धर्म में चार मुख्य सम्प्रदाय हैं : वैष्णव (जो विष्णु को परमेश्वर मानते हैं), शैव (जो शिव को परमेश्वर मानते हैं), शाक्त (जो देवी को परमशक्ति मानते हैं) और स्मार्त (जो परमेश्वर के विभिन्न रूपों को एक ही समान मानते हैं)। लेकिन ज्यादातर हिन्दू स्वयं को किसी भी सम्प्रदाय में वर्गीकृत नहीं करते हैं। प्राचीनकाल और मध्यकाल में शैव, शाक्त और वैष्णव आपस में लड़ते रहते थे. जिन्हें मध्यकाल के संतों ने समन्वित करने की सफल कोशिश की और सभी संप्रदायों को परस्पर आश्रित बताया.

संक्षेप में, हिन्‍दुत्‍व के प्रमुख तत्त्व निम्नलिखित हैं-हिन्दू-धर्म हिन्दू-कौन?-- गोषु भक्तिर्भवेद्यस्य प्रणवे च दृढ़ा मतिः। पुनर्जन्मनि विश्वासः स वै हिन्दुरिति स्मृतः।। अर्थात-- गोमाता में जिसकी भक्ति हो, प्रणव जिसका पूज्य मन्त्र हो, पुनर्जन्म में जिसका विश्वास हो--वही हिन्दू है। मेरुतन्त्र ३३ प्रकरण के अनुसार ' हीनं दूषयति स हिन्दु ' अर्थात जो हीन ( हीनता या नीचता ) को दूषित समझता है (उसका त्याग करता है) वह हिन्दु है। लोकमान्य तिलक के अनुसार- असिन्धोः सिन्धुपर्यन्ता यस्य भारतभूमिका। पितृभूः पुण्यभूश्चैव स वै हिन्दुरिति स्मृतः।। अर्थात्- सिन्धु नदी के उद्गम-स्थान से लेकर सिन्धु (हिन्द महासागर) तक सम्पूर्ण भारत भूमि जिसकी पितृभू (अथवा मातृ भूमि) तथा पुण्यभू ( पवित्र भूमि) है, ( और उसका धर्म हिन्दुत्व है ) वह हिन्दु कहलाता है। हिन्दु शब्द मूलतः फा़रसी है इसका अर्थ उन भारतीयों से है जो भारतवर्ष के प्राचीन ग्रन्थों, वेदों, पुराणों में वर्णित भारतवर्ष की सीमा के मूल एवं पैदायसी प्राचीन निवासी हैं। कालिका पुराण, मेदनी कोष आदि के आधार पर वर्तमान हिन्दू ला के मूलभूत आधारों के अनुसार वेदप्रतिपादित रीति से वैदिक धर्म में विश्वास रखने वाला हिन्दू है। यद्यपि कुछ लोग कई संस्कृति के मिश्रित रूप को ही भारतीय संस्कृति मानते है, जबकि ऐसा नही है। जिस संस्कृति या धर्म की उत्पत्ती एवं विकास भारत भूमि पर नहीं हुआ है, वह धर्म या संस्कृति भारतीय ( हिन्दू ) कैसे हो सकती है।

मोहयाल सभा फरीदाबाद ने छः नवम्बर को ' मोहयाल बाल मेला ' मनाया। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता मेहता ओ पी मोहन (सीनियर वाईस प्रेसिडेंट, जी एम एस, संरक्षक एम एस फरीदाबाद) ने की। श्री अशोक लव ( सेक्रेट्री जी .एम.एस, संपादक मोहयाल मित्र) कार्यक्रम के मुख्य - अतिथि थे।
इस अवसर पर दो वर्ष से लेकर पंद्रह वर्ष की आयु के बच्चों ने विभिन्न प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लिया।
प्रतियोगिताएँ थीं--फैंसी ड्रेस , कविता पाठ और चित्रकला।
इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए मुख्य-अतिथि श्री अशोक लव ने कहा कि यह देखकर प्रसन्नता हो रही है कि बच्चों में इतना उत्साह और प्रतिभा है। नन्हें-नन्हें बच्चों ने बिना झिझक कविताएँ सुनाईं, विश्वासपूर्वक फैंसी ड्रेस शो भागलिया। उनके द्वारा बनाए गए चित्रों को देखकर उनकी कल्पना शक्ति का पता चलता लगता है। सभी बच्चों ने चित्रकला -प्रतियोगिता में भाग लिया है। इस प्रकार के कार्यक्रम आयोजित होते रहने चाहिएँ। आजकल बच्चे अधिक सजग और प्रतिभाशाली हैं। माता-पिता भी उन्हें प्रोत्साहित करते हैं।

New Delhi: Judge OP Saini, who is handling the 2G scam trial, dismissed Kanimozhi's bail application today along with that of seven others who had applied for permission to leave jail. In his order, the judge used strong language to underscore the gravity of the charges against those accused. (Court order on Kanimozhi's bail)

Accused Kanimozhi belongs to upper echelons of the socierty and is also a Member of Parliament
By no stretch of imagination she can be said to be suffering from any discrimination on ground of being a woman
Witnesses should have sense of safety and security - one way of generating this is to keep the accused in the custody
Their ultimate objective was to use public money in carefully planned manner for personal use with no right to do it
The order is given solely keeping in mind the facts and circumstances of the case, keeping the best interest of justice in mind
No opposition from the CBI to their bail but that doesn't have any bearing on this case
The facts of the case as well as the charges levelled against the accused are of very serious nature having grave implications for the economy of the country
The persons involved in such offenses, particularly those who continue to reap the benefits of the crime committed by them, do not deserve any indulgence; and any sympathy to them not only being entirely misplaced but also against the larger interest of the society the court cannot be oblivious to the fact that such offenses are preceded by cool, calculated and deliberate design with an eye on personal gains and in fact not all such offenses come to the surface.
If a person knows that even after misappropriating huge public funds, he can come out on bail, after spending a few months in jail, and thereafter he can continue to enjoy the ill-gotten wealth obtained by illegal means, that would only encourage many others to commit similar crimes in the belief that even if they have to spend a few months in jail, they can lead lavish and comfortable lives thereafter, utilizing the public funds acquired by them. In fact, not everyone would mind luxurious living for him and his family, even if it comes at the cost of spending a few months in jail. A strong message therefore needs to be sent to these white-collared criminals and those who are waiting in the wings that in the long run, it does not pay to be on the wrong side of the law.
The community or the state is not persona non-grata whose cause may be treated with disdain. The entire community is aggrieved if economic offenders who ruin the economy of the state are not brought to book.

छठ पर्व / अशोक मेहता

प्रकृति एवं लोक आस्था का अनोखा महापर्व

प्रकृति एवं लोक आस्था का अनोखा त्योहार और व्रत हमारे देश में सूर्योपासना के लिए छठ पर्व के रूप में मनाया जाता है| सूर्य की उपासना से मनुष्य प्रत्येक प्रकार की बीमारी ( विशेष रूप से कुष्ट रोग) से मुक्ति पाता है तथा दीर्घकालिक जीवन प्राप्त करता है| यह पर्व वर्ष में दो बार मनाया जाता है । पहली बार चैत्र माह में और दूसरी बार कार्तिक माह में । चैत्र शुक्ल पक्ष षष्ठी पर मनाए जाने वाले छठ पर्व को चैती छठ व कार्तिक शुक्ल पक्ष षष्ठी पर मनाए जाने वाले पर्व को कार्तिक छठ कहा जाता है। पारिवारिक सुख सम्रिधि तथा मनोवांछित फलप्राप्ति के लिए यह पर्व मनाया जाता है । ऐसी मान्यता है कि सूर्य देव और छठी मइया का संबंध भाई-बहन का है| सूर्योपासना का यह अनुपम लोकपर्व मुख्य रूप से पूर्वी भारत">भारत के बिहार">बिहार, झारखण्ड">झारखण्ड, पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश">उत्तर प्रदेश और अब तो विश्वभर में विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में मनाया जाता है। प्रायः हिंदुओं द्वारा मनाए जाने वाले इस पर्व को मुस्लिम भाई बहनों सहित अन्य धर्मावलंवी भी मनाते देखे गए हैं।^[ छठ व्रतके संबंध में अनेक कथाएं प्रचलित हैं; उनमें से एक कथाके अनुसार जब पांडव अपना सारा राजपाट जुएमें हार गए, तब द्रौपदीने छठ व्रत रखा । तब उसकी मनोकामनाएं पूरी हुईं तथा पांडवोंको राजपाट वापस मिल गया । इस सम्बन्ध में छठ पूजा के इतिहास की ओर दृष्टि डालें तो इसका प्रारंभ महाभारत काल में कुंती द्वारा सूर्य की आराधना व पुत्र कर्ण के जन्म के समय से माना जाता है। मान्यता है कि छठ देवी सूर्य देव की बहन हैं और उन्हीं को प्रसन्न करने के लिए जीवन के महत्वपूर्ण अवयवों में सूर्य व जल की महत्ता को मानते हुए, इन्हें साक्षी मान कर भगवान सूर्य की आराधना तथा उनका धन्यवाद करते हुए मां गंगा-यमुना या किसी भी पवित्र नदी या तालाब के किनारे यह पूजा की जाती है। लोक परंपराके अनुसार लोक मातृका षष्ठीकी पहली पूजा सूर्यने ही की थी । इसीलिये यह पर्व ‘सूर्यषष्ठी’ के नामसे विख्यात है। रामायण काल में सीता ने गंगा तट पर छठ पूजा की थी। एक मान्यता के अनुसार लंका">लंका विजय के बाद रामराज्य">रामराज्य की स्थापना के दिन कार्तिक शुक्ल षष्ठी (पृष्ठ मौजूद नहीं है)">कार्तिक शुक्ल षष्ठी को भगवान राम">राम और माता सीता">सीता ने उपवास किया और सूर्यदेव की आराधना की। सप्तमी को सूर्योदय के समय पुनः अनुष्ठान कर सूर्यदेव से आशिर्वाद प्राप्त किया था।एक अन्य मान्यता के अनुसार छठ पर्व की शुरुआत महाभारत काल (पृष्ठ मौजूद नहीं है)">महाभारत काल में हुई थी। सबसे पहले सूर्य पुत्र कर्ण">कर्ण ने सूर्य देव की पूजा शुरू की। कर्ण भगवान सूर्य का परम भक्त था। वह प्रतिदिन घंटों कमर तक पानी में ख़ड़े होकर सूर्य को अर्घ्य देता था। सूर्य की कृपा से ही वह महान योद्धा बना था। आज भी छठ में अर्घ्य दान की यही पद्धति प्रचलित है। प्राचीनकाल से अपने परिजनों के उत्तम स्वास्थ्य की कामना और लंबी उम्र के लिए भारतीय स्त्रियां नियमित सूर्य पूजा करती थीं। दिवाली के ठीक छह दिन बाद मनाए जाने वाले छठ महापर्व का हिंदू धर्म में विशेष स्थान है। कार्तिक मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की षष्ठी को सूर्य षष्ठी का व्रत करने का विधान है । अथर्ववेद में भी इस पर्व का उल्लेख है। यह ऐसा पूजा विधान है जिसे वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से भी लाभकारी माना गया है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि सच्चे मन से की गई इस पूजा से मानव की मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण हो जाती हैं। छठ पूजा का संबंध हठयोग से भी है। जिसमें बिना भोजन ग्रहण किए हुए लगातार पानी में खड़ा रहना पड़ता है, जिससे शरीर के अशुद्ध जीवाणु परास्त हो जाते हैं। इसे करने वाली स्त्रियाँ एवम पुरुष धन-धान्य, संतान सुख तथा सुख-समृद्धि से परिपूर्ण रहती हैं। प्राचीन काल में इसे बिहार और उत्तर प्रदेश में ही मनाया जाता था। लेकिन आज इस प्रान्त के लोग विश्व में जहाँ भी रहते हैं वहाँ इस पर्व को उसी श्रद्धा और भक्ति से मनाते हैं। यह व्रत बडे नियम तथा निष्ठा से किया जाता है। इसमे तीन दिन के कठोर उपवास का विधान है । इस व्रत को करने वालों को पंचमी को एक बार नमक रहित भोजन करना पडता है। षष्ठी को निर्जल रहकर व्रत करना पडता है । षष्ठी को अस्त होते हुए सूर्य को विधिपूर्वक पूजा करके अर्घ्य दिया जाता है। सप्तमी के दिन प्रात:काल नदी या तालाब पर जाकर स्नान किया जाता है। सूर्योदय होते ही पानी में खड़े होकर अर्घ्य देकर जल ग्रहण करके व्रत को खोलते हैं। प्रथम अर्घ्यसे पूर्व मिट्टी की प्रतिमा बनाकर षष्ठी देवीका आवाहन एवं पूजन करते हैं। पुनः प्रातः अर्घ्यके पूर्व षष्ठीदेवीका पूजन कर विसर्जन कर देते हैं। इसके लिए विशेष वैदिक मंत्रों से भगवान सूर्य का आवाहन नहीं किया जाता है बल्कि गावों देहातों में गाये जाने वाले गीतों और भजनों से भगवान भास्कर को प्रसन्न किया जाता है|मान्यता है कि पंचमीके सायंकाल से ही घरमें भगवती षष्ठी का आगमन हो जाता है। इस प्रकार भगवान्‌ सूर्यके इस पावन व्रतमें शक्ति और ब्रह्म दोनोंकी उपासनाका फल एक साथ प्राप्त होता है । यह पर्व चार दिनोंका है । भैया दूजके तीसरे दिनसे यह आरंभ होता है । पहले दिन सैंधा नमक, घी से बना हुआ अरवा चावल और कद्दूकी सब्जी प्रसादके रूपमें ली जाती है । अगले दिनसे उपवास आरंभ होता है । इस दिन रातमें खीर बनती है । व्रतधारी रात में यह प्रसाद लेते हैं । तीसरे दिन अस्ताचल सूर्य की अंतिम रश्मि को अर्घ्य अर्पण करते हैं । अंतिम दिन उगते हुए सूर्य की प्रथम रश्मि को अर्घ्य एवम दूध चढ़ाते हैं । इस पूजामें पवित्रता का विशेष ध्यान रखा जाता है; Somvar ki Kahani - ( MONDAY FASTING)

This story is connected with Monday fast. Monday fast is practiced to propitiate Lord Shiva. It has special significance in the month of Shravan. Meals are taken only once a day, generally after midday. It is believed that Monday fast results in happy family life and acquisition of knowledge. Once upon a time, there was a poor Brahman. He had nothing to sustain his family. One day his wife said to him, “My Lord, can’t you go out for earning money? We are in need of food”. The Brahman said, “It is my pious duty to feed you all. I have no income. I shall go out to make some income. Give me my Iota (brass pot) and string”. The Brahman’s wife gave him his Iota and string and he started on his journey.

There was a big peepal tree beside a cross-road on a Kachcha path. He raised a small platform around the tree and meditated there for twelve long years. The passers-by offered him food. Lord Shiva was pleased with his prayers and Monday fasts. He disguised himself as a Swami, an ascetic, with a dandi (staff) in his hand. He came near the peepal tree where the Brahman was meditating. The Brahman opened his eyes. A dandi Swami stood before him, blessing him with his raised hands. The Swami said, “What is your desire? You can ask for some boon”. The Brahman was overwhelmed and said, “I have nothing to support my family. I need money”. The dandi Swami said, “Worldly possessions are temporary. I shall give you a valuable Mantra. It will help you fulfill all your desires”. The Brahman said, “What is that Mantra, O Swamiji?”

The Swami said, “The Mantra is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all are related with one or the other deity. Lord Shiva is the deity of Monday. Whosoever knows this secret gets nine treasures of Kubera, the Lord of Wealth, as also all the Riddhis and Siddhis i.e. prosperity, wealth etc.” Having got the Mantra, the old Brahman was happy. His sister’s village was nearby. He thought of visiting her. The sister was surprised to see her brother. She said, “You have given me a pleasant surprise. What brings you here? You have visited my house after a long time”. The Brahman said, “Let us sit down and talk about our family matters”. The sister replied, “I have no spare time to sit and talk. There are a lot of things to be done. I shall borrow handful flour from my neighbor and cook food for you”.

The brother said, “Clean and plaster your house with the cow dung first and light the holy lamp. Invite your neighbors. Put on new clothes, I shall tell you a valuable Mantra”. The old lady went from door to door to invite her neighbors. Many women gathered there to listen to the valuable Mantra. The old Brahman said, “Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are related with one or other deities. Lord Shiva is the deity of Monday. Whosoever knows this secret gets nine treasures of Lord Kubera, the lord of wealth, as also all Riddhis and Siddhis”. To the great surprise of all gathered there, as soon as the Mantra was used, the Brahman’s sister house got filled with a variety of household articles and enormous wealth.

It was a pleasant surprise for the Brahman also, because he had tested the Mantra for the first time. The Brahman’s sister was now happy. She said, “Take your meals and have some rest”. The Brahman said, “I will not take my meals in your house because you are younger than me. I shall take my meals at my family priest’s house”. On his way back home, he met his Baniya friend. He repeated the same Mantra there also. The Baniya’s house also got filled with wealth. The Brahman returned to his village. His wife was surprised to see him empty-handed. “You are here after twelve long years and still you have nothing with you”, she said. What is the matter?

The Brahman said, “I have learnt a valuable Mantra from a dandi Swami. The Mantra is more valuable than wealth”. The Brahman’s wife got infuriated but the Brahman made her listen to the Mantra. As the Brahman recited the Mantra, by the grace of Lord Shiva, his house got filled with wealth. The Brahman’s wife was surprised to see such an immense wealth. “What shall we do with all this wealth?” she remarked. The Brahman replied, “This wealth should be spent for the good of others. Let wells be dug all along the road-side to facilitate the travelers quench their thirst. Let marriages of all the poor unmarried girls be arranged by us”.

Somvar ki Kahani-II

This story is connected with Monday fast. Those who observe Monday fast listen to this story in the afternoon after offering prayers to Lord Shiva. Once there lived a wealthy merchant in a city. He always had immense wealth and prosperity. But despite all the worldly possessions, he remained sad because he had no son. He regularly observed Monday fast to have a son. He used to go to the Shiva temple and worshipped Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with full faith. Goddess Parvati was pleased at his devotion. She implored Lord Shiva and said, “My Lord, this wealthy merchant is your faithful devotee. He regularly observes Monday fast but still he has no son. Please fulfill his desire”.

Hearing the imploring of Parvati, Lord Shiva said, “Let your desire be fulfilled. I grant him a boon. He will be the father of a son, but…” “But what my Lord?” asked Parvati. Lord Shiva said, “but he will live for twelve years only". Fortunately, this wealthy merchant could hear their conversation. As time passed on, the merchant’s wife gave birth to a beautiful son. He celebrated his son’s birth with great pomp and show and distributed food, clothes and money amongst the poor. All prayed for his son’s long and happy life. But the merchant was still sad because he knew that his son would not live beyond twelve years.

Yama, the god of Death, spares none. Knowing what the situation was, the merchant started observing the Monday fast with greater zest and there was no let up in the worship of Lord Shiva. He practiced all the rites of worship. At the age of eleven, the merchant’s son looked quite smart and mature. All desired that he should be married to a beautiful girl. The merchant’s wife also wanted her son to be married. She insisted for it again and again. The merchant did not agree to this proposal. He sent for his brother-In-law and said, “Accompany my son to Kashiji. Arrange for his best spiritual knowledge. Take enough money from my treasure. Arrange devotional gatherings on your way to Kashiji at every halt and distribute alms among the beggars”.

The merchant’s son started his journey for Kashi with his maternal uncle. They arranged devotional gatherings and distributed clothes at every halting camp. They also arranged best eats for the Brahmans and made enough offerings to them. One day they made a halt at the capital of a king. The king’s daughter’s marriage was held for that day. The marriage party had already reached the city. The bridegroom’s party was terribly disturbed because the bridegroom was blind, of one eye. They were in search of a beautiful boy to replace him. The bridegroom’s father sent his men in search of a beautiful boy. The men spotted the merchant’s son who was camping in an inn with his maternal uncle.

The bridegroom’s father was a rich person. He said to the merchant’s maternal uncle, “My prestige is at stake. I need a handsome bridegroom in place of my one-eyed son. I shall give enough wealth if your ward agrees to have a temporary marriage with the king’s daughter. He shall be free immediately after the marriage ceremony is over”. The merchant’s brother-in-law convinced his sister’s son for a temporary marriage. The bride’s party praised their luck when they saw a handsome bridegroom with the marching band at the head of the marriage procession. The merchant’s son and the king’s daughter were finally married off around the holy fire.

At the time of departure, the merchant’s son picked his bride’s scarf and wrote, “Now we are husband and wife. I am not the son of a king. I am the son of a rich merchant. I was on way to Kashiji for spiritual studies. Your real bridegroom is blind of one eye”. The bride noticed her bridegroom writing something on the scarf. She could not read his message at that time. When the marriage party was about to depart, the bride read the message. She was shocked to know the reality. She refused to accompany with the one-eyed bridegroom. The marriage party returned without a bride. The merchant’s son reached Kashiji and devoted himself fully to the spiritual studies. His maternal uncle arranged devotional gatherings and gave donations everyday for the well-being of his sister’s son.

On the last day of the twelfth year, the merchant’s son felt pain in the chest. His maternal uncle was performing the religious rites as per his routine. As he went inside the room, he found the boy dead. He was full of grief, but kept silent as the Brahmans would not accept food from such a house. With courage, he completed his routine. When his routine was over, he started crying. Many people gathered around him and shared his grief. Fortunately, Lord Shiva and Parvati were also passing by that house. When Parvati heard the cries and beating of breast, her motherly compassion got aroused. She was a mother, after all.

Having known the facts, she said to Lord Shiva, “My dear Sir, please ask Yama to return his life. Yama is always at your command. Please do this favor to me. You are the protector of all creatures”. Lord Shiva agreed and sprinkled Ganga water on the dead body. The boy got up as if he was making an excuse for sleep. The spiritual education of the merchant’s son was over. They started their journey homeward. They arranged spiritual discourses and distributed aims among the needy throughout their way. Now, they were back in the city where this boy was married. The king recognized the boy immediately.

He took him to his palace with full honor and on an auspicious day, he arranged to happily departure his daughter with adequate dowry. The merchant’s son reached his city along with his bride. His father could not believe it. He was sitting on the roof of a big mansion with his wife, waiting for his son. They had decided that they would not come down until their son supported them himself; otherwise they would commit suicide by jumping down the roof. So the merchant’s son along with his bride went up to the roof. They touched their feet. The merchant and his wife were very happy to see the couple.

Somvar ki Kahani-III

This story is related at the time of breaking Monday fast. Unshakeable belief in Lord Shiva brings prosperity and nonbelievers get sufferings. If the husband and wife have the same belief they are bound to lead a happy life. Even repentance at some stage is as good. Once, Lord Shiva visited the famous city of Amravati accompanied by Goddess Parvati. On their way, they saw a beautiful Shiva temple and decided to spend some time there. One day, Parvati found Lord Shiva in a playful mood. She said to him, Oh my Lord, “Let us have a dice game”. Lord Shiva obliged her and the game started. Meanwhile, the priest of the temple had come there. Parvati turned towards him and said, “Please foretell who will win this game?”

The Brahman gave no serious thought to her question and abruptly said, “Lord Shiva will win the game”. Incidentally Parvati won the game. She was angry because the Brahman had told a lie. Lord Shiva tried to pacify her, but she cursed the Brahman to turn into a leper. In due course, the Brahman became a leper and spent a miserable life. After some time, a few fairies descended on the earth and pitied the fate of the priest. On asking him, the priest narrated the whole episode. One of the fairies said, “You observe Monday fasts for sixteen weeks without break. On the seventeenth Monday, prepare some holy food or Prasad with flour mixed with ghee and gur. Distribute this prasad among the members of your family and take some yourself. You will be free from this leprosy”.

The fairies disappeared and the priest followed the instructions. Soon, he regained his normal health. Once again, Lord Shiva and Parvati visited the same temple. Parvati was surprised to see the priest. He was back at his normal self. She enquired about this feat and the priest narrated the whole story. Parvati was so happy that she, too, decided to observe Monday fasts for sixteen weeks. Incidentally, on the seventeenth Monday, when she broke her fast, her beloved son Kartikeya, who was displeased with her, appeared and said, “O dear mother, what is that power with which you have called me? What is the mystery?” Parvati said, “O my dear son, all this miracle is due to observing Monday fasts for sixteen weeks without interruption”.

Kartikeya’s Brahman friend had been in a foreign land for quite some time. Kartikeya said, “I shall observe Monday fasts for sixteen weeks for happy reunion with my friend”. He observed the 16 weeks fasts as per rules and to his great surprise his friend returned hale and hearty. The friend enquired about the miracle and Kartikeya told him the modalities to be observed for Monday fast. The Brahman friend was very curious about his marriage. He decided to observe the Monday fasts for sixteen weeks. On the seventeenth Monday, the Brahman friend went to a city. The ruler of the city decided to marry his daughter to a person on whose neck his well-decorated elephant would put the garland.

The Brahman joined the show. Incidentally, the elephant garlanded him. The ruler of the city gave him his daughter and also a lot of money. The couple departed the next day and was back in their home. On the honeymoon night, the bride said, “O my dear, how is it that the elephant ignored all the princes and garlanded you? How did you succeed on the auspicious moments?” The bridegroom said, “I observed fasts on sixteen Mondays. Monday is Lord Shiva’s day. It is due to his blessings that I got a beautiful wife like you. My friend Kartikeya revealed this secret to me”. The bride too decided to observe fasts on sixteen Mondays for a beautiful son, full of knowledge.

Her devotion bore fruit and she gave birth to a beautiful son. As the son grew up, he said to his mother, “O my dear mother, what is the mystery behind my birth? Please reveal it to me”. The mother told him how she observed Monday fasts. The son also decided to observe the fasts to gain a kingdom for his parents. Incidentally, an old king’s messengers from a nearby state came there in search of a beautiful and learned bridegroom for the princess. They proposed the princess’s hand for him and he readily agreed. The king expired after sometime and the boy became the king. The newly-made king continued his fasts for the next sixteen Mondays.

On the seventeenth Monday, he arranged a large prayer party at a temple. All the arrangements were made well in advance. The king requested the queen to accompany him to the temple for breaking the fast after taking prasad from the priest. The queen refused to go with him. The king had to go alone. The king heard an oracle who echoed, “O king, turn out the queen from the palace or destruction will fall upon you. The king returned to his palace. He summoned a conference of his ministers and told about the oracle. All of them were taken aback, as it was due to that princess that he became the king of the state.

They agreed to his proposal only with a heavy heart. The queen was ultimately turned out. The queen left the palace bare footed and in worn-out clothes. She was thirsty and fatigued. She met an old lady who had a load of spinned spindles on her head. She was going to the city. She felt pity on her and asked to help her in selling the yarn because she did not know the art of selling. The queen took that load on her head. Incidentally, a strong wind blew away the spindles which disappeared in the dusty wind. The queen felt sorry and the old lady asked her to go away. The queen went to an oilman’s house and sought shelter.

The oilman obliged her, but as she stepped in, all of his oil pots developed cracks and the oil began to flow on the ground. The oilman immediately turned her out. The queen was now disheartened. She went to the bank of a river to quench her thirst. As she touched the water, the water dried up. She then went to a deep jungle and saw a tank of water. As she went down the stairs and touched the crystal dear water, it became muddy. She cursed her fate and put a few drops of the muddy water in her mouth. She was now tired and wanted to take rest under a shady tree. As she went near the tree its leaves began to fall and soon it became leafless.

The cowherds saw this incident and told the whole story to the priest of a nearby temple. The priest called for the woman. He was surprised to see that the woman had royal features. He consoled her and provided her with all the facilities. But after some days, he also got fed up with her because whatever the woman touched became impure - may it be milk, food or water. One day, the priest said, “O lady, what curse has fallen upon you? You reveal the mystery”. The woman told him how she rejected a proposal to attend Monday fast prayer. The priest understood the whole thing. He knew it was Shiva’s curse. He said, “O dear lady, you observe fasts on sixteen Mondays and Lord Shiva will absolve you of your sins”.

The woman realized her mistake and observed the Monday fasts for sixteen Mondays. On the seventeenth Monday, the king said to himself, “My queen left my palace long ago. Her condition must be very miserable”. He called for his courtiers and ordered them to search out the queen. The courtiers reached the temple where the queen was residing. The priest refused to hand over the queen to them and said, “Let the king himself come to receive her”. The courtiers went to the king and related the whole story. The king was happy to hear the news. He went to the temple and requested the priest to return his queen to him. The king admitted that he deserted the queen to avoid Lord Shiva’s wrath.

The priest trusted the king’s words and the queen returned to the palace. She was given a royal welcome. The king distributed money among the needy and arranged food for the hungry. The king and queen now regularly observed fasts on sixteen Mondays each year and lived a very happy life. After their death they found abode in Lord Shiva’s city, Shivapuri. Since, then it is believed that any person, who observes fasts on sixteen Mondays, will get all the pleasures and will enter Shivapuri after his death.

माँ लक्ष्मी की पूजा और परिचय

दीपावली के उपलक्ष्य में श्रीलक्ष्मी माता की विशेष उपासना की जाती है। उनकी उत्पत्ति का विषय यामल ग्रन्थों में वर्णित है। श्री लक्ष्मी को कमला एवं सौभाग्य लक्ष्मी भी कहते हैं। मुख्य श्री तो श्रीविद्या महात्रिापुर सुन्दरी ही है।
जब समुद्र मंथन हुआ तब कमलात्मिका लक्ष्मी उत्पन्न हुई। उन्होंने श्री महात्रिपुर सुन्दरी से ऐक्य प्राप्त करने हेतु बहुत आराधना की जिससे प्रसन्न होकर श्रीमहात्रिपुर सुन्दरी ने अपने में ऐक्य कर दश महाविद्याओं में एक महाविद्या बना दिया और श्री के नाम से ही कमलात्मिका को लोक प्रसिद्ध होने का वरदान देकर वे अन्तर्धान हो गई।
लक्ष्मी के अनेक भेद हैं जिसका विशेष वर्णन, पूजन, साधना आदि शाक्त प्रमोद स्तवन, नारद पंचरात्रा, मंत्रा महोदधि, श्री विद्यार्णव आदि ग्रन्थों में विस्तार पूर्वक वर्णन है। एकाक्षरी से लेकर चतुरक्षरी, अष्टाविंशति अक्षर मंत्रा आदि का वर्णन शास्त्रां में है। गुरु द्वारा पूर्ण रूप से साधक समझकर ज्ञान प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।
इसके मंत्रा ध्यानादि के अनन्त भेद हैं। कमला वैष्णवी शक्ति है। महाविष्णु के लीला विलास की सहचरी कमला की उपासना जगदाधार, शक्ति की उपासना है। महालक्ष्मी की कृपा प्राप्ति के लिए मानव, दानव, देव आदि सभी लालायित रहते हैं। जितनी सांसारिक संपदाएं हैं वे इनकी कृपा से ही प्राप्य हैं।
निगम और आगमों में महालक्ष्मी की उपासना के अनेक भेद व विधान उपलब्ध हैं। वैसे लक्ष्मी के सोलह भेद हैं जिसे षोडश लक्ष्मी कहते हैं। लक्ष्मी के पांच भेद प्रमुख हैं जिनमें १. सौभाग्य लक्ष्मी, २. महालक्ष्मी, ३. त्रिाशक्तिलक्ष्मी, ४. साम्राज्य लक्ष्मी और ५. सिद्धि लक्ष्मी का समावेश है। आम्नाय भेद से ऊर्ध्वाम्नाय, पश्चिमाम्नाय आदि में श्री विद्यालक्ष्मी, राजलक्ष्मी, धान्यलक्ष्मी की उपासना करते हैं।
इस प्रकार इन तीनों को मिलाकर अष्टलक्ष्मी की उपासना करते हैं। मतभेद से दो रूपों में विभक्त कर अन्यान्य नामों से षोडशलक्ष्मियां पूज्य हैं जिनकी पूजा श्रीयंत्रा में की जाती है। विशेष पूजन श्रीसूक्त से किया जाता है।
महालक्ष्मी आद्या शक्ति हैं। लक्ष्मीजी सुवर्ण के समान कान्तिवाली स्मितवदना, कमलानना, कमल दल नयन युगला और अतिशय सुन्दरी हैं। लक्ष्मी उपासना के लिए श्री यंत्रा प्रमुख है। जिस पर श्री साधना की जाती है। श्रीयंत्रा पूजा में यति दण्डैश्वर्य विधान में सोलह आवरणों में सोलह लक्ष्मियों की पूजा होती है। एकादशावरण में स्पन्दिचक्र में गायत्राी के ३२ नामों से भी पूजा की जाती है। इस प्रकार गायत्राी साधना में भी श्री यंत्रा की महत्ता है।
तंत्रा साधना में बाह्य पूजा से अन्तर पूजा की महत्ता है। अन्तर योग से शरीरन्तस्थ नाडयों की जागृति होकर अन्तर चक्र जाग्रत होते हैं जिससे साधक के मन के संकल्पों की सिद्धि होती है।
लक्ष्मी साधना की दृष्टि से दीपावली के पांच दिवस अत्यन्त महत्त्व के हैं। धनतेरस से कार्तिक शुक्ल द्वितीया तक रात्रिा में नव बजे से बारह बजे तक जो साधक बाला बीज के जप अथवा परा प्रासाद बीज के जप करता है, उस पर लक्ष्मी की अनन्य कृपा होती है। साधना गुरु द्वारा जान कर करने से श्रेष्ठ लाभ होता है। हरेक देवी-देवताओं की पूजा हेतु श्रीयंत्रा उपयुक्त है।
लक्ष्म्यादि मंत्रां का सूक्ष्म प्रयोग कूर्म पुराण एवं सार संग्रह में वर्णित है। लक्ष्मी के अनेक मंत्रा प्रयोग हैं। इनमें कुछ इस प्रकार हैं -
१. एकाक्षर मंत्रा - ’श्री‘। इसी को चिन्तामणि मंत्रा भी कहा गया है। इसम ’’सौभाग्य संपत्प्राप्तये जपे विनियोगः‘ का उच्चारण कर विनियोग करने के बाद में न्यास करके ध्यान करना चाहिए। इसके ऋषि भृगु, निचृत् छन्द और श्रीदेवता हैं। श्रां, श्रीं, श्रूं श्रै श्रौं श्रः - इनसे कर/षडंग न्यास/हृदय न्यास करने चाहिये।

ध्यान

कान्त्या कांचन सन्निभां हिमगिरि प्रख्यैश्चतुभिर्गजै।
र्हस्तोत्क्षिप्त हिरण्मयामृतघटै रासिच्य मानां श्रियं
बिभ्राणां वरमन्ज युग्म मभयं हस्तैः किरीटोज्ज्वलां
क्षौमा बद्धनितम्बबिम्बलसितां वन्देऽरविन्दस्थिताम।।

इस प्रकार ध्यान व मानसिक पूजा कर अनन्य चित्त से जप करने से सौभाग्य, सुख व लक्ष्मी की प्राप्ति होती है।
इसी प्रकार भगवती लक्ष्मी का चतुरक्षरी मंत्रा ’’ ऐं श्रीं हृीं क्लीं ‘‘ भी है। बाला के बीज ’’ ऐं क्लीं सौः ‘‘का जप भी ऐश्वर्य प्रदान करने वाला है। साम्राज्यलक्ष्मी एवं सर्वमंगला आदि त्रिापुरेशी की नित्याये हैं। किसी एक मंत्रा की विधि जानकर दीपावली के पांच दिवसों में रात्रि में जप करने से लक्ष्मी प्रसन्न होती है। पुरश्चरण पद्धति से प्रयोग करने से अनन्त लाभ प्राप्त कर साधक सुखी होता है।

*क्या कारण है कि मदुरै मंदिर, रामेश्वरं सेतु , कोणार्क, अजंता, एलोरा आदि चट्टानें काट कर बनाए गए भव्य प्रासाद , आबू पर्वत का मंदिर, रणथम्बोर का दुर्ग, आमेर और उदयपुर जैसे राजप्रसादों का निर्माण करने वाले सर्वश्रेष्ठ वास्तु - कला के पांडवों से लेकर पृथ्वीराज तक के कम से कम तीन हज़ार साल तक निरंतर शासन करने वाले हिन्दुओं के अपना कहलाने वाले कोई भी स्मारक नहीं?
*यदि उन्होंने कोई स्मारक नहीं बनवाए तो उनके राजसेवक और परिवार कहाँ रहते थे?
*उनके काल को हम सोने की चिड़िया के नाम से जानते है , जहां दूध की नदिया बहती थीं . तत्कालीन साम्राज्यों का अपार धन कहाँ संग्रह करके रखा जाता था?
* हमारे देश में यह कैसे हो गया कि एक अखंड आर्यावर्त रहे देश में भी दिल्ली, आगरा , फतेहपुरसीकरी, इलाहबाद , अहमदाबाद नगर और सारे मध्यकालीन स्मारक तथा उनसे भरपूर नगर भारतीयों ने नहीं अपितु विदेशी आक्रमणकारियों और मुगलों ने बनाए। ....कैसे संभव है?

Maharishi Kaushal Ashram – The Head of “Bhimwal” Mohyal Clan

Kaushal Maharishi is also known as Kutsa or kratu Maharishi, who is one of the seven Saptarishi of this Manvantara. The Bhimwal clan Mohyals having Kaushal gotra, are the descendents of Maharishi kaushal. Kaushals are mostly god fearing Brahmins traditionally renowned for their knowledge of astrology and spiritual healing.
The word Kaushal means who has all the perfection of mind or mentally clever. The word Kaushal in Devnagri [Hindi] means clever, perfect or skillful. Kaushal also means "Excellence”.
Maharishi Kaushal’s ashram was located on the banks of the river Aciravati, now called as the Rapti river near the capital of ancient Kaushal desha , which in modern times is known as Sravasti in the present day Gonda District of Uttar Pradesh state near the current city of Balrampur some 120 KM north of Lucknow, It was the ancient capital city of the kingdom of Kosala. During the time of Gautam Buddha, this area became a great buddhist learning center as the king Pasenadi according to buddhist scriptures became a buddhist king. He is also known as the Raja Prasenajit [6th century BC] who was the then ruler of Koshla kingdom and was a Iksvaku lineage king, the son of great Iksvaku king Mahakoshla. He became a great follower of Gautam buddha , and built many monasteries in Sravasti. The city of Balrampur is almost 17 kilometres from the town of Shravasti, where Lord Gautam Buddha displayed his supernatural powers. The ancient city of Sravasti, the Koshala Kingdom capital stood on the western bank of the Aciravati river. It was a tributary of the Sarayu river coming down from the Himalaya Dhaulagiri mountains of Nepal. It is one of the five great rivers that constituted the Ganges group of rivers. It was one of the most sacred rivers of the Buddhist religion.
In the Sapt rishi mandal, each Rishi has their own speciality, Maharishi Kaushal or Kutsa due to his intellect or skillfulness stands for sweetness. It is said that of the 82 suktas in the Rudram, about 65 are the contributions of Maharishi Kaushal. Maharishi Kaushal or Kutsa Maharishi explained the allegories of the first laws of celestial bodies, and the greatness of this Maharishi is recognized in the Vedas., The Rig Veda 4.16.10 mentions a conversation between Lord Varuna and Indra which illustrates how Maharishi Kaushal [Kratu] and Indra were not only bosom friends but also were 'look-alikes' so much that at one stage Indrani, the wife of Indra herself could not differentiate between both of them, and then she finally had to ask her husband Indra for help to identify himself between the two. Since ancient past many names have been assigned to the same rishi which has caused the confusion also to the common human beings.
Maharishi Kaushal is credited with discovery of the fourth vyahrithi, ‘swvah’ in the prokshana mantra The Prokshana Mantram goes like this "Om Bhu: Om Bhava: Om Svaha". It is said in ancient hindu scriptures that the water is a purifier, which technically defines the magnetic liquid of the astral plane commonly known as the Bhava loka. The water gets the ability to purify anything that it touches. This power is rested upon water through the sound vibrations of Prokshana Mantram. The Taittriya Samhita states that the Mantra Drishtas [creators and applicators] of the above mantra are none other than the three great rishi’s of Sapt Rishi Mandal Bhrigu, Atri, & Kaushal or kutsa Maharishi [also known as Kratu].
Out of the 82 suktams in the Rig Veda, 65 are attributed to Kaushal or Kratu. He is seen as a close friend as well as a lookalike of the Vedic god Indra, the lord of the Svarga loka. Kalidasa invokes Sage Kaushal in one of the chapters in Raghuvamsa. Tradition says that it was due to the blessings of Kaushal Maharishi that the the Raghu clan prospered and their territory was thus called the Kaushal desha in which kaushal Rajya was established, which included the land of Ayodhya or the territory of Surya vanshi dynasty, in which was born the crown jewel of the Raghu clan, the great Lord Shri Ram Chandra.
The Verses in Taittriya Samhita 2.6.5 of the the Aagya Prakaranam chapter exists as an question answer verses, which states as follows ….“Brahmavaadin O vadantyatbhir haveemshi proukshee, Kenaapa iti brahmaneti brooyaat adbirhyeva haveemshi Prokshati brahmanaapa”
Which means -- as a question first asks “What do you purify the offerings to gods with?, then as an answer it states “By sprinkling water”, then in again in question form it asks “With what do you purify water to be able to impart purity to the offerings”?, the answer to that is stated as “With mantra, to which it then again in question form asks “What is that mantra?, the answer to that is “Bhu, Bhava. Svaha or the Parokshna mantra”.
Kaushal Maha rishi is also named as Rajrishi Kusha in many ancient scriptures as in his lineage was born the great Maharishi Vishvamitra, who was originally a great king in ancient India, and also was called Kaushika "descendant of Kusha". He was a valiant warrior and the great-grandson of a great Rajrishi king named Kusha. The Valmiki Ramayana, prose 51 of Bala Kanda, talks about his lineage as:- There was a king named Kusha, a Manasputra of Brahma, and Kusha's son was the powerful and verily righteous Kushanabha. Kushanabha’s son was the highly renowned king Gaadhi , and Gaadhi's son is this great sage, Vishvamitra. Vishvamitra ruled the earth, and this great-resplendent king ruled the kingdom for many thousands of years
Kaushal Rishi is represented by Star Dubhe in the Sapt Rishi Mandal [Ursa Major constellation]. There was a fight between the all powerful Maharishi Vashisht and Vishwamitra, According to the Pauranic story Maharishi Vashisht destroys Kaushika's entire army by the simple use of his great mystic and spiritual powers, just by breathing the Aum syllable. Maharishi Vashisht also destroys one hundred of Kaushika's sons, and Kaushika then undertakes a Tapasya for several years to please Lord Shiva, who bestows upon him the knowledge of celestial weaponry. He proudly again goes to Vashisht ashram, and uses all kinds of powerful weapons to destroy Maharishi Vashisht and his hermitage. But he could only succeed in destroying the hermitage, but not harm Maharishi Vashisht at all , so the enraged Vashisht brings out his “Brahmadanda”, a wooden stick imbued with the power of Brahma. And It consumes Kaushika's most powerful weapons, including his Brahmastra [thr supreme weapon of Brahma]. Vasistha then gets ready to destroy Kaushika [Vishvamitra], but his anger is removed by the pleading Deva’s through their dev stuti’s. Kaushika is left humiliated while Vashisht restores back his hermitage to its original condition.
In Yajurveda mantra no. 32/6, only three lokas have been mentioned i.e., Divyalok or Dyulok (the Solar system emitting light with manifested creator Prajapati’s [planetary scheme logos], Prithvilok (the Prithvi Prajapati or creator Brahma of the manifested earth scheme ) and Antrikshlok (cosmic manifestations in the space). As regards Bhuhu, Bhuvaha, Swaha etc.lokas, they are only mentioned in Tetiriyo Upnishad and not in the Vedas. So Bhuhu means vital [Pranic] and Bhautik [physical], Bhava means the emotional or feeling plane, Swaha means the fullness of mind or the mental plane. Maha means the home of intuitional wisdom. Janaha means the spiritual plane or Bramh loka, who creates the universe. Tapaha the archetype or monadic plane, and Satyam means the divine plane of God who is eternal. So in this Tetriya Upanishad, Maha has also been told as Aditya lok (Surya lok i.e., sun) which gives light to others. This Aditya lok already comes within Dyulok cited above.
Gautam Buddha passed the greater part of his monastic life in Sravasti. His first visit to Sravasti was at the invitation of Anathapindika, whom he met in Rajagriha. The main monasteries in Sravasti were the Jetavana and the Pubbarama. Sravasti also contained the monastery of Rajakarma, built by Raja Prasenajit , opposite Jetavana. Not far from the city was a dark forest called the Andhavana, where some monks and nun went to live. Outside the city gate of Sravasti was a fisherman's village of five hundred families. Gautam Buddha spent twenty five rainy seasons in Sravasti, thus leaving only twenty to be spent elsewhere. Of the 25 rainy seasons of his life Buddha lived in Sravasti, he spent 19 in the monastery named Jetavana, and 6 in the monastery called Pubbarama. Thus, Sravasti is the place where Buddha lived the longest amount of time, and it is the place where he gave the largest amount of discourses and instructions.

Apart from that Balrampur is well connected through rail route via Gonda-Gorakhpur loop line. AIR- Amausi Airport, Lucknow.

Ashram of Mahrishi Vashith Mohyal Gotra Rishi--Lau (Lav)

According to the famous Hindu epic “Ramayana”, Brahmrishi Vashisht had an Ashram in Ayodhya that was spread over 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land, where he lived with his wife” Arundhati’. Today all that remains of it is a small ashram in about one fourth of an acre of land. The ashram has within it a well that is believed to be the source of the river Saryu. This Vashisht Kund is situated near Chakra Tirtha in the city of Ayodhya. Vashisht Kund is a temple with a small round kund (pond) like a well.
Maharishi Vashisht is glorified in Rigveda chapter RV 7.33, extolling his role in the war of the 10 kings of Bharatvarsha, making him the only Maharishi besides the other rishi named Bhava to have a Rigvedic hymn especially dedicated to him. Maharishi Vashisht also wrote the famous treatise known as the "Vashisht Samhita" - a book on Vedic system of electional astrology, as well the famous “yog vashisht”is dedicated to him by Maharishi Valmiki. This treatise of Yog Vashisht, recounts a discourse of the sage Maharishi Vashisht to the young Prince Rama chandra, during a period when the latter is in a total dejected state. The contents of Maharishi Vashisht’s teaching to Rama is associated with Advaita Vedanta, explaining the illusory nature [Maya] of the manifest world and the principle of non duality of the manifesting “spirit”.

Vashisht kund:-
Now this Maharishi Vashisht Ashram is known as the Vashisht Kund. Vashisht Kund is a temple with a small round kund (pond) like a well.This is a beautiful temple which signifies the place where the 4 princes came to do gurukula vasa. That is, the 4 princes stayed here, at the Vashisht hermitage, to study. In fact so did all the kings before rama. The temple has lovely images of Vashisht and young Rama and his brothers which are almost life like. Looking at them one can actually imagine the 4 princes sitting around their Guru and learning. They look so eager to get on with their learning. At the basement of the main murti are multiple other murti’s of Saptarishi, Vashisht with his wife Arundhathi, Kamadhenu cow, Hanuman, etc. When you come out of this underground temple are into an open courtyard, there are steps that go further down to a water tank. The miracle is that the water level in this tank changes with the water inflow into the river Sarayu. There is no direct visible connection to the river yet the tank is influenced by how much water the Sarayu carries. This small tank which can be seen from the top. It is a very serene and calm place. The fruit of bathing in the kund is the attainment of knowledge like Vashisht Maharishi according to the prevalent belief of the seers.

Brahmarishi Vashisht was the Guru of the Solar Dynasty [Suryavansha]. The King at that time was King Ishvaku who was the king of Ayodhya. He was a noble king and thought of the well being of his subjects. He approached Sage Vashista telling him that the land had no water and requested him to do something to let the kingdom have adequate water. Sage Vashisht performed a special prayer and the river Saryu is said to have started flowing from this well. Saryu is also known as Ishvaki and Vashishti. It is said that the well is connected underground with the river. Many spiritual people who visit this ashram find an enormous spiritual energy around this well. It is one of the seven famous spiritual Tirath's for hindus to attain moksha or liberation, as it is written in the Garud Purana that Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya [Haridwar], Kasi [Benares], Kanchi [Kanchipuram in south India], Avantika [Ujjain], Puri Dvaravati[Dwarika] are the seven Moksha or liberation giver cities.

There is also another Maharishi Vashisht ashram past Rishikesh on the way to Kaudiyal on the Devprayag route that is known as Vashisht Guha Ashram. The ashram itself is located on the banks of the River Ganga [Ganges] and it is a very beautiful place. It has a cave with a Shiv Ling in it. There is also another small cave to the side facing the river Ganga.

Maharishi Vashisht is one of the nine 9 Prajapati’s or creator rishi’s, the mind consciousness of one of the manifested bodies of the Navagraha’s [nine plants] in our solar system, which happens to be Neptune and reflected to our planet earth through the planet Jupiter [Brahaspati , the Dev Guru]. Maharishi Vashisht is the chief author of the 7th Mandala of the Rigveda.[In actuality there are 10 or Das Prajapati’s but Saturn [Shani] plays both mother and father role [Shiva/Shakti] , as Mahakaal and Mahakaali, thus only nine are consdiered as the prajapati,s out of this 10 number prajapati group].
The city of Ayodhya is situated on the right bank of the river Saryu, and it is about 6 km from the city of Faizabad, Ayodhya, which is a popular pilgrim centre. This town is closely associated with Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During Lord Gautam Buddha’s time[Shakyamuni], the city was called Ayojjhā in Pali language, which was mostly used by the Buddhst literary people like the sanskrit by hindu priesthood, and it was called Ayodhyā in Sanskrit which lord Gautam Buddha visited, , which he also visited and stayed there for some time. The city is also important in the ancient history and heritage of Buddhism in India, with several Buddhist temples, monuments and centers of learning having been established there by the Mauyran kings, as well as the kings of Gupta dynasty like Chandragupta Vikramaditya.

Ayodhya reached its glorious peak as known to history during the reign of the Guptas kings all over India. In Ayodhya there are two earth mounds [Tila’s] known as the Mani Parbat and Sugriv Parbat. The first of these ancient earth mounds is identified with a stupa built by the Emperor Ashoka, while the second is believed to be an ancient monastery.

About 2000 years ago during King Vikramaditya’s of vikrami samvat’s fame who relocated this long forgotten place, it was called Saketa, [Śāketa,is a sanskrit word meaning the abode of Lord Vishnu or Vishnuloka], which was later on conquered by the chinese Kushan/Yuezhi Emperor Kanishka, arround 127 AD, who patroned Hindu religion and made it the administrative centre of his eastern territories, and during the time of the visit of the Chinese pilgrim monk, Xuanzang, [huentsang] in 636 AD, it was again known as Ayodhya.

The ancient city of Ayodhya, according to the Ramayana, was founded by Manu, the law-giver of the Hindu. For centuries, it was the capital of the descendants of the Surya dynasty of which Lord Rama was the most celebrated king. Ayodhya during ancient times was known as Kaushaldesa or the kaushal janapada.
Skanda and some other Puranas rank Ayodhya as one of the seven most sacred cities of India. It was the venue of many events in Hindu mythology. Today pre-eminently a temple town, Ayodhya is famous for its close association with the epic Ramayana. It is a city of immense antiquity full of historical significance and sacred temples. The Atharvaveda described Ayodhya as "a city built by Gods and being prosperous as paradise itself."

The illustrious ruling dynasty of this region were the Ikshvakus of the solar dynasty commonly known as the descendants of Surya or Suryavanshi’s . According to tradition, the king Ikshvaku was the eldest son of Vaivasvata Manu, who established himself at Ayodhya. The Earth is said to have derived its name `Prithivi’ from Prithu, the sixth king of this solar lineage. A few generations later came Mandhatri or Mandhata, in whose line the 31st king was Harischandra, who is known widely known as the Satyavaan Raja for his love of truth. Raja Sagar of the same clan performed the Ashvamedha Yajna and his great grandson Bhagiratha is reputed to have brought Ganga on Earth by virtue of his penance. Later in the time came the great Raghu, after whom the family came to be called as Raghuvamsa. His grandson was Raja Dasaratha, the illustrious father of Rama, with whom the glory of the Kausala dynasty reached its highest point. The story of this epic has been immortalized by Valmiki andlater rewritten by the great saint “Tulsidaas”, immensely popularized by the great masses through centuries.

Ayodhya is a city of temples yet all places of worship here are not only Hindu. At Ayodhya several religions have grown and prospered simultaneously and at different periods. Remnants of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam can still be found in Ayodhya. According to Jain tradition, five Tirthankaras were born at Ayodhya, including Adinath (Rishabhadeva) the first Tirthankar.

Nageshwarnath Temple
The temple of Nageshwarnath is said to have been established by Kush, the son of Rama. Legend has it that Kush lost his armlet, while bathing in the river Saryu, which was picked up by a nag-kanya, who fell in love with him. As she was a devotee of Shiva, Kush erected this temple for her. It is said that this is the only temple to have survived till the time of Maharaja Vikramaditya, the rest of city had fallen into ruins and was covered by dense forests. It was by means of this temple that Vikramaditya was able to locate Ayodhya and the sites of different shrines later erected here.

  विभाजन के पश्चात् हम अपना सब कुछ छोड़कर आए थे. आज मोहयाल किसी भी रूप में किसी से पीछे नहीं हैं. हमें गर्व होना चाहिए कि आज जी एम एस के रूप में हमारी एक संस्था है जिसने मोहयालों के सहयोग से इतना विशाल रूप लिया है. मोहयाल आश्रम हरिद्वार के पश्चात् वृन्दावन और गोवर्धन आश्रमों पर कार्य तेज़ी से चल रहा है. बंटी बाली जी का सुझाव बहुत अच्छा है. हमें अपनी सामर्थ्य के अनुसार 'पांच सौ एक - ग्यारह सौ-अधिक' जितना हो सके इस पुण्य कार्य में योगदान करना चाहिए.हमें लगना चाहिए यह भवन-आश्रम हमारे अपने हैं. किम छिब्बर जी विदेश में बैठकर भी हमेशा चिंतित रहती हैं कि अपनी बिरादरी के लिए कुछ और योगदान किया जाए. उन्होंने किया भी है .हम सब एक-दूसरे के साथ मोहयाल होने के नाते जुड़े हुए है. यह प्रेम और सद्भाव बना रहना चाहिए.

The great puranas give us the exact location of our great Kashyap Maharishi Ashram, the “Mohan” Mohyal clan head.
According to the Vamana Purana:-
Lord Narayan became pleased by Kashyap’s eulogies and austere penance. He appeared before the deities and asked them to demand anything they wished for. Kashyap requested him to give Aditi, the privilege of becoming his mother. Lord Vishnu agreed to take birth as Aditi’s son.
“The deities became pleased and all of them proceeded back towards Kashyap’s hermitage. When they reached Kurukshetra, the place where Kashyap had his hermitage, they inspired Aditi to commence her penance to please Lord Vishnu. Aditi did a severe penance for 10,000 years.” The place where she did her penance later on became famous as the Aditivan”.
This is the same historical ancient Aditivan where Maharishi Kasyap used to live with his wife Aditi, which is currently situated in the village of Amin, which is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the historical city of Kurukshetra, about 8 km to the east of Kurukshetra University. At Amin there are two 'kundas' (sacred tanks), one attributed to Aditi and second to her son lord Surya.
In this village of Amin is that "tirth-sthal" (holy spot) called "Surya Kund", where Mother Aditi, the wife of Kasyap rishi gave birth to the Sun God (Surya Dev). This spot is said to be empowered by the hard worship of 86000 "Rishi-Munis" and the villagers generally leave the "asthi (mortal remains after the pyre is burnt) kalash" after cremation in that sarovar (kund). A strong belief prevails that if any pregnant lady takes a bath in that holy kund, then the upcoming male child will have excellent qualities like bravery & power.
One of other the important places in Amin village is a very old fort in the village of Amin. This fort is situated at a higher level than the rest of the village. Local People say that in the Mahabharat times, this fort belonged to the great son of Arjuna , the famous Abhimanyu, It is also prevalent as a folklore in the local people that the Pandavas arrayed their great forces before the last battle in the war of Mahabharatha at this village of Amin.
This ancient vedic land of Kurukshetra was situated between two rivers — the Saraswati and the Drishadvati. This land has been known as Uttravedi, Brahmavedi, Dharamkshetra and Kurukshetra at different periods. When King Kuru came on this land it was called Uttarvedi. Over the period this land has been ruled by many empires. The Bharata Dynasty later came and settled on this land.
Later the Battle of Mahabharata was fought on this land between Kaurava and Pandavas, during which Lord Krishna preached Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. This ancient battlefield occupies a very large area of around 80 square kilometers. The battle field is mainly divided in seven forests. These forests are named as Kamyavan, Aditivan, Vyasvan, Fulkivan, Suryavan, Madhuvan, and Sitavan.
It is said that the war of Mahabharata took place in first three forests, namely Kamyavan, Aditivan, and Vyasvan. As the strength of both Pandavas and Kauravas armies was very big, this extremely large battlefield was selected for the war. This was the place where Lord Krishna gave the famous teachings of Bhagavad-Gita to Arjun as he was not ready to fight his own relatives to get the Kingdom of Hastinapur. Today's Delhi where the Purana Qila stands, was the capital city of Pandava’s kingdom, known as Indraprastha.
Kurukshetra reached the zenith of its progress during the reign of King Harsha, during which Chinese scholar Hieun Tsang visited this land at Thanesar. By the archaeological grounds it has been proved that Ashoka the Great in 3rd centuary BC, made Kurukshetra a centre of learning for people from all over the world.
According to the vamana Purana :- The sages requested Lomaharshan to reveal about river Saraswati’s origin, which flowed in Kurukshetra. Lomaharshan said- “Saraswati originates from Paakad tree (Indian fig tree). She enters Dwaitvan after passing through numerous mountains. While describing about her majesty, sage Markandeya felt that Saraswati was the source from, which everything originated- all the three worlds, three Vedas, Vidya (learning), heavenly bodies like Sun, Moon etc. Once, sage Markandeya eulogised Saraswati by saying- “O Saraswati! You manifest in the form of cryptic mantra- “OMKAR”. You are the eternal form through which the Almighty God (Brahma) manifests himself in different appearances.”
Saraswati was pleased by his devotion and said- “O Brahmin! I am willing to go wherever you want to take me.” According to Markandeya, river Saraswati was initially known as Brahmasar. Later on, she became famous as Ramhalad. Sage Markandeya requested Saraswati to flow in the territory of Kurukshetra where sage Kuru was doing his penance. This way, Saraswati diverted her course towards Kurukshetra.
The sages requested Lomaharshan to describe about the geographical condition of Kurukshetra. Lomaharshan replied- “There are 7 different forest ranges in Kurukshetra. They are- “Kamyakvan, Aditivan, Vyasavan, Phalkivan, Suryavan, Madhuvan and Sheetvan. Nine rivers flow across Kurukshetra- Saraswati, Vaitarni, Aashga, Mandakini Ganga, Madhustrava, Vaasu, Kaushiki, Kaggar and Hiranyavati. Kurukshetra is believed to be the most sacred place of pilgrimage. A pilgrim visiting Kurukshetra should begin his pilgrimage only after worshipping the Yaksha. He should then pay a visit to the famous Aditivan where Aditi had accomplished a severe penance to get a son. By doing this, he is blessed with sons possessing all the good qualities. After that, he should pay a visit to a place called Savan where Lord Hari dwells. A devotee who pays a visit to Lord Vimaleshwar becomes liberated from all his sins and goes to Rudraloka after his death. Some other places of pilgrimage situated in Kurukshetra and which are considered to be very sacred are Paritlav, Kaushiki, Dharani, Daksha’s hermitage, Shaalukini, Sarpeedadhi, the temples at the bank of Panchnad river, Vaaraha temple, Someshwar temple etc.”
“A devotee should also pay a visit to Ramkunda where Parashuram, from the Brighu clan, the clan of Chhibber mohyals had constructed five ponds and filled them up with the blood of the Kshatriyas, whom he had killed. He had pacified the soul of his ancestors by performing Tarpan with the blood of the dead Kshatriyas. The dead ancestors were pleased with him and blessed him in becoming free from the sins, which he had acquired because of killing Kshatriyas.”
The ancient Hindu scripture Rajtarangini, regarded as one of the most ancient and famous historical texts of the Indian sub-continent talks about Maharishi Kasyap in details. According to this great scripture, the whole of the Kashmir valley was under water, and in its place was a big lake known as "Satisar" which was named after Shiva's consort “Sati”. The people living on the banks of the lake were threatened by an invincible monster - Jalodbhave. . It was on the Kashyap rishi's pleading with Vishnu that gods and goddess came to help to kill the monster. Goddess Sharika who is revered in Kashmir, assumed the form of a dove and brought a small 'hill' (The Hari Parbat or Sharika Devi's Parbat) in its beak and crushed the monster with that 'hill'. It was after that, Kashyap Rishi drained the water through number of rivers and rivulets and what emerged was a valley of enchanting beauty, whom the saint named "Kashyap Murh" or Kashyap Mar. As time passed, the nomenclature changed and finally the `Paradise on Earth' came to be known as Kashmir
Maharishi Kashyap wrote a treaties known as the Kashyap Samhita, which is also known as Braddha pr Viiddha Jivakiya Tantra, is an important treatise on Ayurveda medicine written in ancient India by the sage Kashyap, which is one of the first Ayurvedic texts of the ancient world. Today, Kashyap Samhita is considered, a classical reference book on Ayurveda especially in the fields of Ayuvedic Pediatrics, Gynecology & Obstetrics. It is also now a part of the Ayurveda teaching syllabus especially in Kaumarbhrityal Balroga (Pediatrics). In the Kashyapa Samhita, the Ayurveda is taught using question-and-answer style: The questions relate to the commencement of diseases, diagnosis, treatment, and management, which were asked by his student disciples, and then answered by the Sage Kashyapa himself.

According to Vishnu Purana, the great Maharishi Parashar is an ancient Vedic Maharishi and is the great author of many ancient Indian texts. Maharishi Parāśara (or Parashar) was the grandson of Maharishi Vashisht, and was the father of Maharishi Ved Vyasa who compiled Bhagwad Gita. Maharishi Parāśara was known as the "limping sage, as When Sage Parāśara was once walking through a dense forest he and his students were attacked by wolves, and he was unable to get away, which caused him in his old age to limp with a lame leg.
Maharishi Parāśara, son of Sakti-Muni (Parāśara Śāktya) and Grandson of Maharishi Vashisht, is the seer of compiling the Rigveda,verses 1.65-73 which are all in praise of the Vedic god Agni, [the sacred fire, which later became the god Shiva of the Hindu trinity), and part of 9.97 (v.31-44) which is in praise of Soma [the divine nectar or vitality of gods]. This Prashar Lake lies 49 km north of city of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, with a three storied buddhist pagoda style temple, which is dedicated to the great sage Maharishi Prashar. The Lake is located at a height of 2730 m above sea level. With deep blue waters, the lake is held sacred to the sage Prashar as he is regarded to have meditated there. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and looking down on the fast flowing river Beas. This Parashar lake tirath can be approached via town of Drang.

The current temple on this ancient site was built in the thirteenth century. This beautiful lake has a beautiful small round island, which floats in it.
The city of Mandi (old name Mandav Nagar), also known as Sahor (Tibetan: Zahor), is a city in Himacha Pradesh and is situated 145 kilometres (90 mi) north of the state capital Shimla. The current city was established in 1527 by Ajbar Sen, and according to the local Legend the Great Sage 'Mandav' meditated upon lord “Shiva” in this area, and thus Mandi has at least 81 ancient temples dedicated to lord Shiva. This is the great headquarter of buddhism as the great legend Padmasambhava, who took buddhism from india to tibet also lived here.
Mandi is the home to a number of beautiful carved stone edifices each with an elaborate shikhara, or spire, among them Bhutnath, Trilokinath, Panchvaktra and Shyamakoli at Tarna hill. Also on the hill, there is a new temple dedicated to Tarna Devi, overlooking the valley and giving a panoramic view of the whole area.The primary temples in the city of mandi are the 'Panchvaktra Temple', situated at the confluence of River Bea and Suketi Khad, 'Ardhnareshwar Temple', which is one of very few temples of its kind in India. 'Triloknath Temple' is located on the right bank of the Beas River. The Mata Kuan Rani Temple [tibetian goddess Kwan yin], consisting of a slate-roofed temple over a deep well which is dedicated to the 'Princess of the Well' and celebrates the time when, according to legend, Mandarava, the Princess of Sahor (Mandi), became a consort of the great buddhist master Padmasambhava. The king became angry and condemned them both to death in a fire which raged for seven days. After the smoke cleared, in its place there was a lake with a lotus in it, 'Rewalsar' or Tso Pema (Tibetan: 'Lotus Lake').
Mandi has also an historical Gurudwara related to the 10th Sikh Guru Shri Guru Gobind singh ji, who spent some time in Mandi. The people and the then ruler of Mandi welcomed him with great warmth and supported the great Sikh Guru in his war against the tyrannical rule of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The Gurdwara is also referred to as Gurudwara Palang Sahab, because the Guru's Bed 'Palang' which he used during his stay in Mandi, is still preserved here.
• Train: The nearest railway stations to Mandi are Joginder Nagar and Simla, connected by narrow gauge train, and Chandigarh and Kalka by broad gauge train which are connected by regular bus services.
• Road: Mandi is approachable by road from Shimla, Chandigarh, Pathankot as well as Delhi . There are regular bus services linking it to the other towns like Manali, Palampur and Dharamshala..
• Airplane: The nearest airport is at Bhuntar in Kullu District, about 50 km from the district.
A highly recommended place of pilgrimage………………..especially for “Bali” Mohyal clan offsprings.
